Trump, a very stable genius knows high speed rail is a good idea. I am extremely against high speed rail as an antifa leftist.

If trump managed to build effective high speed rail that goes coast to coast, hits more than just NYC and LA, and is affordable, I think history would probably end up forgiving him for a lot of shit.

    Never gonna happen though.

200mph is pretty good. That’s 320 kph. IIRC, China’s high speed rail has a max speed of 350kph, often cruising at 300kph.

You’re describing something very deep, while only touching the surface.

On the left, people are not very forgiving of other leftists, when they cross the line. And if you really cross the line, then we just don’t want you on our team anymore, gtfo.

On the right, it’s like no matter what you’ve done, as long as you fight for the same thing as the others, you can still be on the team. This is why you see artists make a shift to the right, just before a big scandal, they know they will still have a fangroup as long as they share rightwing propoganda.

This is great for the right wing in the short term, but eventually the techbros and the christofascists, and the Nazis will all realize that they don’t really have anything in common, except a desire to rule everything. “But not like that, like this!”

It’s gonna be interesting to see the showdown between all the different fascist groups Trump has under his flag.

If money laundering bankrupted casinos, then Las Vegas would be just another ghost town in the desert. It takes a special level of stupid to bankrupt a casino. Especially if you are using it to launder money.

            It was actually 4 casinos.

            https://news.temple.edu/news/2016-10-25/bankruptcy-expert-studies-trump-casinos

Those Las Vegas casinos you are referring to are in compliance with money laundering laws. Trump’s were not.

            https://www.fincen.gov/news/news-releases/fincen-fines-trump-taj-mahal-casino-resort-10-million-significant-and-long

If you’re not taking in enough to cover the amount of money laundering you’re doing, you’ll end up with a loss on the books.

I get that, but my point was that some of the most corrupt, greedy, and murderous people in the history of the US managed to build an entire city out of nothing, in the middle of the desert, well away from anywhere. In a place that no same person would ever want to be for any reason, and they turned it into a destination for people from around the globe.
It wasn’t greed, corruption, or money laundering that bankrupted his casinos. It was unmitigated, weapons grade, stupidity and incompetence.

How can you bankrupt a casino?

All of Atlantic City basically collapsed on itself as Vegas siphoned away the high rollers.

Trump thought he could buy into an old casino and revitalize it. But he’s Trump, so he did it all wrong and just got to ride the crash all the way into the dirt.

Trump knew he wasn’t going to revitalize anything. The whole thing was a money laundering scam for him.

Well, he thought running a casino was an easy way to print money. He threw a ton of investment at pastiche, bilked his builders, shortchanged his staff, and created a very glitzy slum.

The Adelsons and the Wynns have been laundering money in the same way, but none of their casinos go belly up. They’re just as evil but far more competent.

He is fighting against math right now. Maybe the real game with the tariffs is market manipulation.

So this legitimately happened in Chicago ten years ago, fortunately it went nowhere: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Express_Loop

The most frustrating part is that WE ALREADY HAVE A COMMUTER RAIL FROM DOWNTOWN TO O’HARE, it just only runs three times a day, and only on weekdays.

Musk did this in other places also. The Boring Company (get it? Get it?) is a fraud designed to keep people from moving away from electric cars.

Trump supporters haven’t figured out we don’t just oppose them blindly, it’s just almost all terrible ideas.

Throw a good idea out there like a high speed train, and we have no problem supporting it, because non-Maga are generally well adjusted humans capable of reasoning.

I would be amazed if they can actually build the train using only American parts like they claim.

Spoiler warning: this is the same kind of grift. They’re not going to build anything. The money-addicts just say whatever lets them make line go up.

With America’s amazing track record of spending big on repairs and maintenance to infrastructure, I can see absolutely nothing going wrong with this at all.

Let’s declare a war on bad infrastructure! We can funnel all “War on Y” money in. America First! Let’s reduce unemployment with a huge jobs program. Hire everyone to build tracks, trails, and parks.
