Being a doctor is one of the jobs expected to be least at risk from AI replacement. But a new program launched in Utah is raising questions over that assumption. A healthcare startup will begin offering AI examinations and prescriptions to patients without direct human oversight, making Utah the first state to replace a doctor with an AI.
The good news is that the program is currently very limited in its scope. It’s just one year long and only for patients with mild-to-moderate acne.
The process works when a person signs up for Nolla Health’s $4.99-per-month app and uses it to scan their face. After completing a medical history and personal information form, the AI analyzes their skin, identifies the acne problem, rates the skin’s oiliness, and then generates a numerical acne severity score that ranges between clear skin and severe acne, reports Bloomberg.
I thought that Utah was supposed to be super-conservative…
Oh Utah. You so stupid

I’m not saying Doc LLM won’t do that, but the trial’s intention is to limit it to choosing between 8 different topical creams for acne. Still a bad idea.
Kids going to be jailbreaking their doctor and ordering goofy pills smdh
The only thing they taught it how to do was to deny gender-affirming care.
The only thing they taught how to do was to deny coverage
Acne is like cement scrapes/burns… Any/all genders prefer not to have it.
Goofy fucking mormons…
Eventually this is all your insurance will cover.
Can’t wait to see how pharmaceutical ads/reps factor into these.
They’ll just make spam subs on reddit to get the keywords in training data.
* minutes long sigh *
[loud and growly groan]
Why!? This is fucking bonkers!
feels like they just want our faces for some book or whatever

Ah, a prescription for your acne! And all it costs is feeding ALL of your information into the Information Stealing Machine. And also $4.99/mo.
Oh, okay, that sounds like a good way to get away with fucking up by blaming it on the AI, and no one gets held accountable for prescribing little Timmy a lethal dose of death juice or whatever.
It’s almost as if these people don’t care at all
Bruh.
I really hate all the face scanning shit.
Biometrics for passwords are already bad. Imagine a wonderful world where “Reset my Advertising ID” means extensive plastic surgery.
