It comes as no surprise to me at least. In recent years we’ve been hearing how these manosphere and right wing guys are funded by right wing oligarchs. I mean the basic production values are top notch. It can’t be explained simply by the widespread availability of professional film making equipment. Which is the explanation I hear often. You can pick a random content creator with no audience who has somehow procured expensive equipment yet they won’t be able to reach the same level of quailty because they don’t know what they’re doing. Plus they don’t have the money to buy production staff to run everything for them. That in itself gives a false sense of capability behind the characters.
These guys need to be treated like terrorists. They’re training young boys and men to abuse and assault women. When conservatives cry about public schools teaching kids “liberal” values like sharing, it’s because they’re projecting. They’re the ones brainwashing boys to become violent misogynistic pricks.

I recommend the Channel 5 interview with Clavicular. It was all new to me and the guy is a trip.
I felt so much dumber having to listen to him speak for that long. I put it on at the start of a ~1 hr drive. I didn’t want to fumble around with my phone to turn it off, but man it was hard to listen to. The guy is insufferable.
Pro tip: podcasts, audiobooks and such often work better at the speed of 1.15 or so.

Idk, I like natural flow just fine, it’s just that some people talk slowly compared to others (to e.g. James Duane or Cory Doctorow). I can’t imagine removing every pause from a talk — or rather, I’ve seen videos that are edited that way, and it’s quite jarring.
In fact, I’d prefer if audiobooks had more pauses in appropriate places, namely between chapters. I need a bit of time to file what I just heard under ‘a section ended’ without going into another one without a break.
I’ve never had a podcast not work because of the speed I was listening to it at, what do you mean they work better?
‘Work’ in the sense that they better match my speed of comprehension and the rhythm of life to which I’m used. The same way as films from the eighties are often quite slow, e.g. watching Bill Murray take half a minute to walk across the room in ‘Where the Buffalo Roam’ was too much.
In the podcast app I’m using, I have speed setting for every subscription set to an optimal value, depending on the host/guests and the density of material.
Previously I’ve also tried higher speed like 1.3, but found that I can’t remember the content afterwards.
That’s a lot of words to say “I have the attention span of a toddler.”
