We don’t know if they were bragging or not. It’s pretty common to ask what someone’s job is during small talk. For all we know they literally just said their job title and left it at that.

I think bragging about how much money or education you have is very low class. I also think this is how you end up with a golddigger wife. Better to hide your wealth.

Jobs come up pretty damn often in conversation with strangers. If they ask, youre obliged to tell them the truth. Doing so would hardly constitute bragging in my opinion.

It was nurses for me. Not necessarily attracted them, but like a third of my matches on dating apps were nurses. And I remember one of them mentioning that it seemed like every other guy she matched with was in IT (at the time I thought it was simply because dating apps were still kinda new around here and IT people were more likely to be trying it)

Clearly you have not regularly been to bars in Capitol Hill.

That’s nothing, that’s tame, that’s barely even remarkable as odd for all the wild shit I’ve seen and heard (and done -cough-) at and around the bars there.

Well its been a while since I’ve been, but the Unicorn hopefully still has deepfried Snickers, uh, going to the Wild Rose as a dude is always… an option, lets say… aw fuck, they cancelled taco tuesday, apparently… and one of the original owners passed this year =(

Yeah I guess I’m a bit past my bar cruising prime years.

More or less, just avoid anywhere flooded by college kids, and you’ll probably find somewhere that matches your vibe.

          Its a neighborhood of Seattle.

They famously historically LGBTQ+ neighborhood, that also has a lot of music venues, bars, nightlife, etc.

Its also where the uh CHAZ/CHOP momentarily existed, after Cap Hill got tired of being abuses by the local police force, barricaded/seiged them in their own Police HQ in the district, and forced them retreat from it entirely, in the dead of night, after literally burning a bunch of documents that would have proved they were knowingly breaking the law in their own ‘riot control’ actions, destroyed a bunch of their own computers too.

Anyway, I brought it up because the OP specifically mentions Seattle.

It was originally named ‘Capitol Hill’, because it was built with the idea that it would seat the actual Capitol of Washington state… but that ended up being built in a different city, Olympia… so… the name still persists, despite kind of being a misnomer / confusing.

Going off their other comments, the furry/tech population here, and their mention of specific bars, Seattle. Don’t worry though, I’m in the same area/culture and still find it kinda weird to throw out a location like that.

To be fair to them, though, the op post does reek of capitol hill furries and techno queers being commonplace and pleasantly weird. So common, that even outside of that city, there are occasional furry bars and coffee shops and stuff. It’s actually really nice.

Ah, nice city. I’ve been there a few times, but somehow I’ve never bumped into a furry. I always spent more times in the wilds nearby though, so maybe that does the trick.

You almost certainly have bumped into a furry if you’ve spent a fair deal of time in Seattle.

They… just… aren’t always wearing their fursuits, corporate tends to frown on that.

Right, but, it seems like, according to this picture and a lot of the folks commenting, that if you meet a furry you will know, probably by dint of them telling you.

But that would require travelling to the US. I’ll have to pass on that until some semblance of sanity returns there. I don’t expect to see that in my lifetime.

You probabaly won’t have to wait too long. At this rate, the US is going to fracture soon and as a result I predict a large part of WA will become a new Canadian territory/province.

I’m Brazilian. For the first time ever, this month I started seeing ads from the US’ tourism department or something. I used to see ads from Brazilian traveling agencies that take people there, never ads directly from the US. I thought it was quite absurd to think anyone would be going there for leisure purposes any time soon, but turns out the idioms school a block from my house is taking people there every year and the 2026 group is apparently larger than usual.

Yeah… we’re kinda all completely beyond fucked these days, over in the US.

I guess our death rattle will at least serve as the most extreme season of reality TV that’s ever been created, so… woooo for that I guess…

Sort of a similar situation with me and renfair people. I build and fit people with custom orthopedic braces and prosthetics and have access to a metal and leather lab.

I wouldn’t claim anyone is overly flirtatious, but they do seem to get friendlier and ask a lot of questions about things like hand setting rivets.
