If tearing down that ballroom is the very first thing President Newsom does, I’ll be overjoyed.

You shouldn’t let any politician have that kind of power over you.

You could put literally any of the worst people in history in charge, and I won’t be killing myself. I may not survive, but it won’t be me killing myself.

I don’t want president Newsom. I want food and healthcare for all. I want taxes for billionaires. I want sustainable energy, not more fucking oil.

Newsom is a corporate shill. He will make things worse for the people of the United States just like he makes things worse for the people of California.

He isn’t perfect, but I wouldn’t say he makes things worse for us, Californians.

But if we get out from this we need another FDR not another corporate Democrat.

I don’t want him either, but we may have to vote for him anyway. He’s the Next One Up

It’s not a foregone conclusion. Fight a little harder for your life, please, you’re taking us down with you.

They’re going to guarantee Gavin just like they always do: run a bunch of other candidates who are going to pretend to want the job, only to throw it and all endorse the Next One Up at the last possible moment before Super Tuesday. (I call that “pulling a Klobuchar”).

I hope I’m wrong. But I’ve seen a few of these now. That’s how I think it will all go down.

Honestly, you may be right. But treating it like a certainty only makes it easier for them. We should be highlighting better alternatives.

Harris, Newsom, Shapiro are out for me, they’re pro-Israel. Ossof has accepted contributions from Israel. Pritzker was an AIPAC board member.

It is very difficult to find candidates without ties to Israel: https://www.trackaipac.com/2028

AOC would be my pick if she runs. Khanna would be my second choice.

Go ahead and make your list by whatever metric you want. Use the Primary as your platform. But don’t be one of those people who disengages if someone who doesn’t meet your standards gets nominated.

If those other folks are too pro-Israel for you in the Primary, that’s fine. But if it goes to the General, and it’s Newsom or Shapiro or Ossoff vs. Some MAGA loser, don’t use it as an excuse to sit out. Because if a bunch of people who found excuses to not vote for Harris has shown up instead in the right zip codes, and Harris was President right now, everyone would be much better off, including the folks in Gaza.

Sometimes, there are just no good choices, but not choosing is worse.

I would be willing to bet my house that he would never do it. Once trump is out the establishment dems will trip over themselves (and dead kids in Gaza) to restore decorum

Yep. Imagine how many corks will be popping if/when that happens. :)

Even better will be watching the people who at that point will probably be pretending they didn’t vote for donnie and never really liked the guy trying not to say anything. :)
