  • What’s really heartbreaking is that when these veterans, who took bullets for us, get told by our country that they need to leave, they just say “Yup, I guess I gotta leave”, and don’t make a huge deal about it. Donald Trump whines, in an extremely public matter, whenever he doesn’t get his way, and these people just continue to do what their country asks them to, even when the country tells them to leave.

    Life just isn’t fair.

  • The article states

The government can only do this in specific situations. It must prove someone “illegally procured” citizenship by not meeting the requirements, or that they lied or hid important facts during the citizenship process.

So, basically, it all goes back to that person’s naturalization process, and the notion that there was something wrong with it. But for this administration, “hiding important facts” might mean “didn’t tell us this tiny detail”, or “didn’t tell us they intended to vote for Liberals”…

  • The article doesn’t discuss details, only that she “legally migrated” and was in the “process of obtaining her permanent residency”. She could have been here legally on a student or other type of temporary visa, and looking to stay permanently. Or, she could have come here in a visa, complying with the laws, only to have the government yank that visa and make her illegal after the fact. (Edited because I missed the part where she came here legally…)

Not that it matters, the immigration courts here have been calling people into immigration court to cancel their ongoing applications, only to release them to ICE, waiting outside the courthouse door. So the status of her paperwork isn’t actually an issue. If the government wants you gone, they will get you gone, one way or the other.

The only real protection is US citizenship: and even that may not be enough if the masked ICE goon decides your proof is “fake” and confiscates it. At least citizens do have a better chance of getting out of detention, but first their lawyer has to find them, in a detention system specifically designed to lose people.

  • Like most Republicans, these Long Island Republicans cannot express empathy at all until bad things happen to someone they know personally. So if there’s a silver lining to Trump’s pogroms targeting immigrants, it’s that they are so widespread that they are having the direct impact that will be necessary if these people would ever be able to see past the brainwashing.

Time and time again, these misguided people say shit like “I thought he was only getting rid of the bad ones”. News flash - it was never about the criminals, it was about getting rid of everyone who wasnt born here, and then moving on to other undesirables, like gays, Liberals, and so on. Given time, we will all be the “bad ones” for one reason or another…
