NBC News - The company said the suspect also made threats outside its corporate headquarters in San Francisco. San Francisco police early Friday arrested a person who allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman’s home and made threats outside the AI giant’s San Francisco …

We’re edging towards French Revolution style turmoil. The billionaires and CEOs should be taking notes - this will keep happening unless something changes.
They’ve been taking notes for a while. The change they’ve decided on is building fortresses for themselves in remote locations, not pursuing social change that would allow even a single coin to slip through their claws.
And isn’t that insane? It boggles my mind that they wish for a dystopian hellscape to be inflicted upon everyone. They cannot escape nor control that situation even though they have the hubris to believe they can. Even if they could survive, what world would they enjoy? Perhaps the mental illness of immoral and unbridled greed also compels them to relish in the endless misery of the human race.
Build a better world and a rising tide lifts all boats. Super simple.
They believe that the individuals constructing their bunkers and serving as their bodyguards will not eventually kill them and take their place.
lol, that part described so well in World War Z (the book).
Exactly, you’re basically a big slab of veal ringing the chow bell lol.
Any system that rewards people who are this profoundly mentally ill needs to be destroyed
They’re calling our bluff.
I am not really a violent person, but they gave up on civility first.
Add tracking everyone and controlling communication.
Zuck’s redoubt in Hawaii.
There are literally companies that sell fortified refuges with moats to billionaires
Well, until they get Ex Machina’d by their creations.
Thank god everything was just peachy after the revolution, and there wasn’t any kind of terror, or “reign of” anything bad
It was still overall good that the French had a revolution. The status quo at the time was unacceptable, the status quo now is unacceptable, and no one in power is willing to change it. It’s gonna be fucking messy but this system needs to die if the species is to survive
People on the fediverse don’t want to hear this, but a complete revolution from the ground up is going to result in a net worse world than a heavily reformed government/society.
We still need to take all this anger and energy to change the system, but a complete revolution away from capitalism is just… not going to happen, unless every country in the world also participates. The beauty of reform is that there are many different levels to it, and we can accomplish almost everything needed with “reforms”. These may seem quite extreme to a midwest moderate housewife (i.e. some average middle class person), but they are necessary to push back against this literal evil world domination scheme being enacted by the technofascists (Musk, Andreeson, Horowitz, Thiel, Vought, Roberts, Miller, Yarvin, etc.).
Kind of a tangent, but to learn more check out vcinfodocs.
You can’t reform away from capitalism and even if you could, in order if you reform away the exploitative and unsustainable nature of capitalism then you end up with something that is completely opposed to capitalism.
Capital runs our world, and so capitalists aren’t going to let you take away their power. You’re asking the king that has both the gun and the bullet to please so very nicely give you both of them so that you can use it for good. But they depend on that gun and bullet for power. So you must take it by force as it will not be handed to you.
We can always try to do better
Keeps believing that chief
Edit: I’m not a consequentialist, this system is harmful to humanity from its core and should be destroyed
