Trump said Noem will be “moving to be Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, our new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere we are announcing on Saturday in Doral, Florida.”

    Uhoh.

Disagree. Complicit Dems will use this as an excuse to restore DHS funding and Mullin will have free rein until they fuck up and kill a few more Americans, probably.

Okay agree, and then nothing more will change, the midterms roll around and are largely suppressed, we slip into completely unrestrained fascism and our crazed countrymen are ordered to just kill the libs and the radical left, then the country completely collapses. I do see where this is going.

The improvement is that she stuck by trump threw everything and he just threw her under the bus.

Everyone in the admin just wondered if they’ll be next and if trump would protect them when the masses get upset at what trump does.

More like a lateral promotion than throwing her under the bus, really.

          It’s a made up committee…

          You ever watch Silicon Valley?

This is like when Bighead gets sent to the roof. trump can’t fully fire her, because she’ll start singing.

So she gets shuffled to a nowhere post that still has perks and money, but she just sits in a room all day. She runs out the clock, but it’s a dead end spot.

It’s not an improvement in the sense that the new guy is going to be better or do less evil.

It’s a small victory that the backlash to Noem’s time as DHS head was big enough that, even if they don’t admit it, it’s an implicit acknowledgement by the Trump admin that they did something wrong enough to warrant a response.

It’s not a major victory, and it shouldn’t be talked about as one, but it’s an improvement over the alternative, where ICE murders people and calls them domestic terrorists with literally no consequence.

You’ve got a lot more confidence than I do that any of that will change in the slightest.

No I don’t. The consequence I’m referring to isn’t any sort of change in policy or future criminal repercussions for ICE en masse or anything.

The consequence I’m referring to is literally just Noem getting replaced. It doesn’t stop ICE or change what they’re doing, but it’s better than an alternative where opposition to the current gov’s ICE policies is so locked down that they can’t even manage to do that much.

            You called it an improvement.

Noem did exactly what he wanted. The next one will do the same. Trump hasn’t had any repercussions, and Noem is being put onto a new board. Whether its called being fired or not, there is no apparent change or any real consequences here. Her not being the face still? What actual consequence is she receiving? Still being paid by the federal government, now with a new, probably more horrifying organization to be supposedly announced today?

Its hard to call a parallel move a “consequence”, or the same approach to the people living in the US an “improvement”.

    How many Scaramucci’s is that?

A “Scaramucci” (or “Mooch”) equals 11 days, which is the total length of time Anthony Scaramucci served as White House Communications Director in 2017.

    January 25th 2025 to March 5th 2026 = 404 days / 11 = 36.72 Scaramucci’s.

Bonus Fun Fact: Kristi’s full name is Kristi Lynn Arnold Noem, which means the monogram on her bathrobe says “KLAN.”

so one unqualified moron is being replaced with another unqualified moron who somehow licks ass harder than Noem.

Remember Mullin is the fuckboy that shit his pants during the Jan 6 coup attempt and then later said “yeah the pardons are justified”. this is also the idiot that wanted to rent a helicopter and “rescue americans” in Afghanistan while he dangled out of the chopper or something.

Doesn’t this mean one fewer Republican Senators then? He was elected in 2023 so he still had safe years on his term in office.

    Also from Wikipedia:

“He is the only currently serving senator without at least a bachelor’s degree.”

Well, trump has said “I love the poorly educated”, so this is an on-brand choice for trump.

Senators are eligible to be replaced by the sitting Governor by appointment. My guess is that the OK Governor would appoint someone right away, so that once Mullin is confirmed and in his new position his replacement can be sworn in right away.

Normally, that appointment would only last until the end of the Congressional session, meaning that seat would have to go on the ballot this November. But it wouldn’t surprise me if OK figured out a way to say it was too close to the election to add another race now, and figured out a way to have the new person serve the remainder of Mullins’ term.

According to Oklahoma state law, the special election for the remainder of the term takes place during the next statewide primary and general election. However, if the vacancy occurs after March 1st during an even numbered year, the special election gets delayed until the next election cycle after that year.

        Source: https://law.justia.com/codes/oklahoma/title-26/section-26-12-101/

So they won’t have to have the special election this year. Though I doubt it makes that much of a difference. If they were going to lose that seat, they were going to lose the senate no matter what.

All it took was one GOP senator not up for reelection making a public statement that he’d hold up nominations unless she resigned or was removed.

That’s how weak these guys are, and how utterly spineless the GOP in general is.
