My GSD shed this year from February to July. Her coat never got thinner she just kept making and shedding the undercoat for 5 months. My roomba came around the corner and just said “I’m Tired Boss” I started breaking out the dustmop because it was filling a bag every 2 days.

finally in august, she just stopped shedding and hasn’t re-formed her thick coat yet.

might have to get her a calendar for xmas…

My friend felted the dog fur into a sweater for her hairless cat. Felters truly are the trash goblins of the art world.

This is why nerf darts are strictly banned from my home. It’s like they multiply after the first one is lost under a couch cushion

I will see your Nerf darts, and raise you airsoft BBs. I still find the cats playing with one every now and again, or pick up a stray one with the vacuum cleaner. I can’t remember firing an airsoft gun inside the house at any time more recently than about 15 years ago. And yet.

Years ago (2019), my ex and I bought those little magnetic balls for our kids. To this day she is still finding those balls all over her house.

~It’s the gift that keeps on giving.~

And that’s why I have leather couches. You don’t see the hair until you need to move the cushions, then you have little mountains to vacuum up. Or, put the cushion back down and watch your living room turn into a snow globe

But their nails will ruin the couches before long.

That’s why I have covers on my fake leather couch. 2 layers, actually, but we used to have a great Dane.

15 years and counting. Idk if Italian leather makes the difference though. I didn’t buy them, gift from my parents. Nails aren’t the issue, wet dog is. Every year I have to buy leather dye but it doesn’t last. I’m about to get rid of them.

That’s because most people don’t train their cats. They let them get away with stuff as a kitten because it’s cute, so when they’re adults and the behavior is an actual issue, it’s much harder to train out.

But I wasn’t even talking about them scratching on the furniture. Pet nails often touch the surface they’re standing on, so they will cause damage by just existing if allowed on the furniture.

Barn cats are peak cat. You get to play with them outside, they eat rodents, they don’t come inside and ruin everything.

Yeah, fuck the local wildlife if it means you don’t have to deal with the hair of your pet being on your couch.

People have been using cats for pest control for literally thousands of years, wildlife problems mostly arise from people in suburban or semi-rural environments who let their un-spayed or un-neutered cats wander outside for no good reason. Farm cats have plenty to hunt at home and there would be rodent problems without other natural predators in these environments.

Not everything is a crusade. Get your pets fixed, keep them indoors if you care about them, don’t let them wander outside if they’re just going to kill birds for no reason all day. Simple as.

Do you get upset about the coyotes and bears that live outside? Do you get upset some people avoid homes filled with pet dander, and their petless homes are cleaner than others?

I am the owner of a black fabric couch and a large dog with longish, mostly white fur. It’s a battle against windmills.

And that’s the single main reason I don’t want another cat after my two cats died, a few years ago. Love cats, but living in an apartment makes dealing with hair a real struggle.
