After Nirvana ended I saw Green Day first on a late night talk show, and they came out and played the same style of music that Nirvana made popular, with a similar stage presence and style. That’s when I assumed they wanted to be Nirvana.
Later they changed into modern Green Day that is completely different than what they were at the start.
