only frame that matters i spose
Per minute not per second.
Perchance
Boy oh boy did I ever make the mistake of reading Facebook comments about this tragedy. People are actually out there theorizing it was a missile.
I know this may come off as morbid curiosity but what happens to the bodies in such a scenario? Are they vaporized with no possibility of retrieving them? Are there remains ? And if so, do they simply incinerate the rest before the funerals ?
RIP to all the passengers and pilots, really a heartbreaking tragedy i wish i didnt see today.
Pretty much pulverized through sheer kinetic force. Throw in the fireball afterwards and there likely aren’t any remains to be retrieved. If there are, the pieces are extremely small.
If it is any mercy at all, the process was so fast that their minds never had a chance to process the pain of the impact. Just an extreme closeup of the ground and then… nothing.
30,000 feet per second = Mach 27
I don’t think that’s correct…
No, we just passed October 27

it was 22,000 ft/minute which is around 367ft/second. at 22,000ft high they traveled 250mph until they crashed.
cries in metric
it was 35,200 bananas/minute which is around 587 bananas/second. at 35,200 bananas high they traveled 2,112,000 bananas an hour until they crashed.
Perfection
Its a small mistake but still: its 30.000 feet per minute, not second
30.000 feet per second is about 10km/sec which is closer to speeds of meteors crashing into the earth. At those speeds, that plane crash would have had enough energy to likely wiped out the entirety of Miami.
Pilot made a small mistake too
Na; that jet only masses 10T.
That is barely low yield nuke. 10 city blocks wiped out and a decent fireball; that ignites a further 100 or so. Not even a city killer. Shockwave shatters windows for quite a radius though.
How dare you! Small mistakes and the OCD battles they spawn are responsible for 46% of off-season popcorn sales!
Honestly, i felt the audio wasn’t as bad as so many people are claiming it to be. Like yes its bad, but after seeing watching so much of palestine footage, its… not that bad. They suffered for like 30 seconds, and then peace.
If you listen to hind rajab’s audio, that thing is super devastating. Like imagine being 5 with your parents dead in the car with you, trying to explain to paramedics, imagine what those paramedics must have felt in that moment. All the agony, all the struggle. Like what thoughts did hind have while waiting for paramedics to arrive?
I think the reason this flight audio feels so scary to western audience is because, so many people have flown, and “it could be any of us”, whereas hind rajab and other palestinians live in a “war torn” country. Like it happens all the time over there anyways.
Why so divisive?
🗣️🗣️🗣️
Nice whataboutism.

It’s called a comparison.
A whataboutism is a comparison, yeah. It’s just jarring to me for someone to say “oh you think this recent recording of someone who’s about to die in a non-political situation is bad? What about the recording from months ago in Palestine?!?”
Most whataboutisms are done unintentionally, but they’re worth calling out.
They’re communicating that they’ve been desensitized to a high degree because of the brutality of the genocide, that this feels pale in comparison.
I agree. I heard the audio on the news site, it had a warning which is fine, but wasn’t that bad. An adult knew she’s going to die and communicated it in a rather calm manner, it was quick, you didn’t hear anything but her voice, and wouldn’t know what happened or when relative to what she said.
I googled Learjet just to get more details on the plane, and the first thing I hit was a reddit post which had a supposed pilot explaining their experience, but the mod was in there banning people for posting the audio, with a pinned comment explaining that, and describing it as extreme gore and nsfl. It’s not that bad.
Did the video of the plane crashing horrify you?
A few years ago, it would have been horrifying. After watching children’s brains spilling out of their heads for over a year, it’s just an accident like any other, it triggers nothing emotionally.
No. A whataboutism is also rhetorical fallacy, that is just a comparison. They’re not arguing that plane crashes don’t matter because Palestine, they are specifically comparing levels of horror and stating that one is less.
Comparing levels of horror, yes, but to be a whataboutism you have to ask the question “why are they comparing it”. They want to bring attention somewhere else. Either away from the fact that they don’t have feelings about it even though other people do, or to bring attention towards something else that they’re passionate about. The latter is what prompts me to label it as whataboutism. Their profile is a mix of tech and politics so there’s precedent for their comment.
Why else would they bother commenting here if not to draw attention to something political? It’s like going to a funeral and saying “I don’t know, sure it’s sad but since I’m aware of the genocide going on, it’s not that sad”.
Part of a whataboutism is discrediting the initial claim. The comment in question explicitly reinforces the initial claim before adding a subjective opinion on which feels more severe.
Its not a whataboutism to say: “Both are bad but x feels worse to me”. That’s simply subjective opinion.
I think you’re a bit too trigger-happy with the label.
Maybe we’re reading different things. I’ll paste their comment below, removing all of the “what about”. All that’s left is discrediting people who feel bad listening to the audio.
Honestly, i felt the audio wasn’t as bad as so many people are claiming it to be. Like yes its bad, but… not that bad. They suffered for like 30 seconds, and then peace.
Then they go on with the “what about the genocide stuff”
What about absolutism?
It was 20,000 feet per minute
Where on earth did you get those numbers?
If it was travelling at a velocity of 30,000 feet per second it would have been vaporized by atmospheric heating. That’s substantially faster than asteroids collide at. That works out app 20,454 mph which is considerably faster than a Apollo rocket.
Don’t listen to the audio. You can’t unhear it.
^ ^ ^ ^ Take this advice! I can still hear the sounds of a terrorist decapitation video I watched at least 20 years ago.
Me too, that video was horrifying.
her last, cutoff words have been haunting me for at least an hour. and here I was thinking I was desensitized for years.
A video of a plane is somewhat abstract. We know what it means consciously, but there’s nothing deep-rooted in our psyches from tens of thousands of years of evolution telling us what it means and speaking directly to the deep, lizard part of the brain. So it’s easier to feel desensitized to, especially if you were a kid in the early 2000s.
A human voice hits different. We know what it means. The emotional register hits our lizard brains even if it’s in a language we don’t understand. There’s nothing abstract about it, so it has a much stronger affect.
Thats exactly why I’m not scared of the height on a plane. Im scared of tegular heights, skyscrapers and stuff, but high enough that you can’t even make out cars from buses? I’m not really programmed to believe that’s a real height.
TIL a new word. Tegular. I like it, thanks!
I listened to the recordings and I cried a little bit but it didn’t seem to affect me much otherwise. Maybe there’s something wrong with me.
When the sounds come back to you after many years it will confirm you’re normal.
I sincerely wish this was the case, I’m jealous, I have been trapped in a thought loop for at least 2 hours now about consciousness and existence and the incomprehensibility of what happens after one dies. I tried to go to bed early but I just kept panicking about the idea of my heart stopping in my sleep. I don’t know what’s happening but I shouldn’t have listened to that audio
Ahhh, yes. I’ve been through all that thinking years ago. It’s a lot to think about for sure.
Death is a rough thing to contemplate. I always zone out for a minute when I hear about someone dying, especially if it was untimely, avoidable, or otherwise tragic.
The history of human thought is full of ways to try to rationalize it or cope with it or even pretend it isn’t final. They all seem to carry hints of at least one stage of grief. Contemplating death is like grieving your own mortality in advance, because you know you won’t be able to do so after.
To me the most helpful thing (not helpful particularly, but more helpful than the rest) is to let it move you to appreciate life that much more while you still can. Maybe even that’s tinged with “Acceptance,” but ultimately that’s the best possible outcome of grief. There’s no better option.
This might not be helpful, but then again nothing is. It’s all I can say on the topic though.
After many years I finally believe reincarnation is the most likely scenario after death, and it has pretty much eliminated my fear of death. Now I just don’t want it to be horribly unpleasant. In the words of Woody Allen (I know, an unmentionable name, oh well), “I’m not afraid of dying, I just don’t want to be there when it happens.”
oh hey so it’s not just me who bluescreens at the mere thought of death
Can I help you with anything regarding this, being a person which had exactly that happen?
can I ask what happened?
Sure, I wouldn’t have offered it otherwise. Early in the morning my heart stopped, I was lucky and got immediate support, was resuscitated. That’s the very short version of it.
Still, I don’t have any, fear regarding this, so I thought I might be of help.
I’m glad there was someone to help you
Nahhh it’s incredibly sad, but I did not find it to be particularly bad compared to a couple others that come to mind.
growing up with the birth of the internet sure was different
though ukraine sure has resulted in a recent glut of messed up stuff
ugh same, i got a slightly elevated heart rate for a minute or two but other than that nothing. like, intellectually i know it’s a terrifying situation and i should feel empathic, but it just doesn’t happen
As someone who’s actually desensitized, it’s really not that bad lol.
the crash itself didn’t really bother me, it was mostly just hearing the recordings of their panic. either way I’m fine now though. I think it was just insomnia driving me mental
Glad to hear you’re doing okay!
lol?
Lol = millennial soft-end punctuation mark. Softer than a period, but not excited like an exclamation mark. Still indicates an end of thought, unlike ellipses. Text version of a smirk, which can indicate irony rather than humor.
I feel seen
My bad.
actually desensitized
I’ve seen a fair few documentaries about aviation crashes. If it’s an academic enginering discussion about ice and turbulence makes you forget the people inside the suspended tin can. I feel a bit different this time round.
Except if you’re one of the people celebrating this because a business jet was mentioned, then please do listen to the audio.
The fuck dude? Pilot and copilot were just normal people doing their job and you can clearly tell they were in distress from the audio. It’s not that hard to give an ounce of respect for them and their loved ones.
It’s not that hard to give an ounce of respect for them and their loved ones.
Which is exactly why I’m advocating for the people celebrating this to listen to said audio.
Ohh, I definitely interpreted your comment wrong first. Sorry
I don’t think anyone is celebrating the death of the pilots, I wonder if they knew the conditions were not good for flying but were forced to fly anyway
they for sure ignored atc advice multiple times over minutes before the ice call
I hope there aren’t people like that…who are we kidding? It’s the internet, of course there will be. I just hope I don’t see anyone with that stance.
But yes, I’m not American, but very anti-large corporations, but I would not celebrate this. Would I have been happy if the diaper man was on this jet? Yes, but still incredibly sad for the ones that didn’t deserve this.
There’s even a thread about it.
And for those of us that aren’t weak as fuck, where is that audio?
So fucking tough
Twitter.
It’s pretty on par with other airline crash audio. Yeah, super tragic and sad, mostly that things went from “hey, ATC, we’re good, but maybe not looking 100% right now…” To falling out of the sky within 30 seconds and dropping so hard they sounded like they might have pulled some Gs trying to bank out of the descent at one point. You can do everything right, and still get messed up. Icing is a real danger, and acts fast.
Any idea who was on board? Sucks we lost a pilot and maybe some other innocents, but seeing a dead 1% would cheer me up a little
No idea, other than the co-pilot that was on the comms was one of those brilliant kids that got their license in high school. She was only 20 and had 1300 flight hours.
https://www.nytimes.com/2026/11/02/us/nathalia-filgueiras-florida-plane-crash-pilot.html
If they were really rich they probably wouldn’t be packed in a small Lear like sardines. They definitely had money to charter a jet, though.
According to the Miami Herald, the ship’s tail number was N722BD. FAA registration database shows a fractional ownership registration to a “LR60271 LLC” out of Wilmington Delaware.
Legitimate Business Inc.
Virtue signaling off a plane crash - classy move!!

I found it pretty easily searching for “Florida plane crash audio”. Cnn had a version that cuts out right after it starts to go wrong, the actual one ends with “we’re out of time”.
It is pretty brutal imo. She knew what was happening and that there was no stopping it, though there was at least some denial. Can’t blame her though, going from a routine thing she did regularly, if in a bit of hairy weather, to being in a situation where it was almost certain she would die over a span of seconds. She spent more time knowing it was over than it took for it to go from normal to fucked and all she could do about it was declare an emergency.
Hope quantum immortality is real for her sake and she’s currently sitting in the Bahamas waiting for their return flight in a universe where she veered in a slightly different course that missed the worst of it.
Gotta love the smug pride in shitting on others so you can seek out death as entertainment.
A little schadenfreude for the healthcare CEO’s choosing profits over paying out health insurance claims people paid into. Or the AI assholes who paid the RAM industry to stop making RAM so they could charge us all for hardware.
Can’t really say that fucking care all that much. When your job is to fuck over the public. You can hardly be shocked when they want to see you dead.
Oi, you can’t park that there mate
and everyone was wondering how the jet on 9/11 disappeared into the ground
Like those morons who thought the Pentagon didn’t get hit because there wasn’t an airplane shaped hole in building like some kind of looney-tunes gag?
Are the wings gone?
They are now.
c/imgoingtohellforthis
No,

Darmok at Miami, his wings gone.
Explain to me how that plane was traveling at Mach 39.1 ?
travelling on an asteroid probably.
It wasn’t. IIRC, it was descending at 30,000 feet per minute at its peak and was maybe coming close to Mach 1 at impact.
I also understand there’s some deeply NSFL audio floating around, but I haven’t listened and don’t intend to.
The audio is a bit rough, especially if you haven’t heard any emergency calls or ATC traffic before but not really any more distressing than watching a loaded plane slam into the ground. Which doesn’t even have a NSFW tag
I listened to the audio. Always heartbreaking to hear people’s distressing last words as they realize they are about to die.
For me it was the helplessness she was in. There was nothing anyone could have done at the time. The ATC operator was trying to see what could be given to them but they where out of options.
Jeff was full on doing the lords prayer in the background, can’t imagine a good 30 seconds of knowing you are dead
at least there was no pain, just helplessness
reminds me of Benny from that scene in the Mummy without any of the humor
Yeah. Utterly gut-wrenching. My heart sinks every time I hear these cockpit crash recordings.
Wherever I think about it, I’m haunted by these alarms, going: “PULL UP. PULL UP.”
Always hoped my last words were something along the lines of “get fuckd carnt”
Hers was something “we’ve run out of time”. Poetic
I heard a professional in an impossible situation doing everything in their power to keep it together.
It’s heartbreaking and powerful.
Very sad audio, but nowhere near something like the Brick Video.
Many years later that brick video still randomly pops into my head and chokes me up
I hate that I know exactly which one you’re referring to. That and the call from the WTC stairwell are burned into my brain.
People are saying the equipment only registers a maximum of 32,000 feet per minute, but the aircraft was probably traveling closer to 60,000 feet per minute on impact, at basically terminal velocity for that aircraft.
I don’t know anything though, just parroting comments from YouTube.
fixed, thanks!
Well, I can say that watching 9/11 live on TV desensitized me to this.
Ill be honest though, that is not the angle I would have expected the plane to crash at.
The reason it’s at such a high pitch is that it experienced heavy icing, which killed the wings ability to generate lift. Once it started falling, it oriented itself in the direction with the least drag, forward.
They went from tolerable light icing to falling out of the sky in less than 3 minutes. Ice is very scary.
What prevents this icing from happening most of the time?
Anti icing equipment built into the plane. That’s accomplished via a few different methods. An important distinction is that deicing is removing ice that has already formed, where as anti-ice prevents new ice formation. Most deicing options are only able on the ground, so it’s important to have anti ice up and running before major accumulations occur.
- Hot air from within the engine (bleed air) is piped to areas needing heat. This is used a lot for wing leading edges.
- Resistive electrical heating - essentially a space heater. Used for smaller components like pitot tubes and fed by the engine’s generator.
- Mechanical removal via deicing boot. Essentially an expandable section of wing that breaks up already formed ice. Not super common.
- Chemical melting done via alcohol spray for windscreens or deice spray for the outer skin. Pretty straightforward.
- Altitude change. Moving to warmer, dryer air layers can work to melt built up ice, or prevent new ice formation, respectively. Flying high can also help, since the low air pressure allows ice to sublimate.
- Avoiding flying into icing conditions. This one seems kind of obvious, but it’s worth saying.
According to the ATC recordings, the FO reported that they were using their anti ice. Unfortunately, anti ice can only handle so much, and it seems like they may have ended up in conditions that overwhelmed their ability to prevent it. They tried to go to a higher altitude to escape the icing, but it obviously came too late. Ultimately, that’ll be for the NTSB to decide what the root causes were. Hopefully the FDR survived by some miracle.
Just a little correction, 4 is physical and not chemical.
Is it? It’s melting via freezing point depression rather than heating, which I thought made it a chemical process rather than a physical one.
Yeah. I made the mistake of listening to just a snippet of the audio. It must of felt like an eternity, falling from 35k feet even at that speed.
Yeah, I listened to the entire exchange via vasaviation. Pretty rough to listen to, would not recommend.
This video is oddly less graphic. It’s so fast and absurd that the horror doesn’t really come with it.
It looks like missile footage, except with a slow explosive with fire rather than a fast explosive with shockwave.
This particular video looks like it destroys the white car, but other angles of the aftermath show that the white car was a bit behind the explosion and that driver was OK but understandably shaken up.
Tbh I’m surprised no one else was killed. It was a fairly populated area it.
NGL. I’ve seen other ways to die. Instant obliteration isn’t a bad way to go. Beats drowning by a long shot.
Idk. The pilot sounded like she knew and I can’t get that out of my head. Adrenaline kicking in, slowing everything down, but knowing she had no more control and there was only one outcome.
there’s plenty of violent deaths that take a while
the two dudes in ukraine fighting over a knife comes to mind
this is for sure sad but short of dying in your sleep this isnt too bad a death
hell id take this over cancer, stroke or a heart attack
Yea a rare stable flight to crash. Looks like they lost complete control.
