I agree. Why TF do I have to refill the soap every week. Why can’t I refill once a year.
I tried to buy foaming soap because I had to refill less often, but no one offers refills 😡

Foaming is much better, doesn’t just slide off and run down the drain once the water hits. Bath and Body Works has foaming refills on their website.

Or you can buy foaming dispensers that you fill with like 25% regular soap and 75% water and it’ll foam up.

Most liquid soaps are pretty nutritious for microbes and don’t contain enough preservatives to stop them growing if they’re diluted, so this is probably not a great idea if you’re not buying specific concentrated soap that’s intended to be diluted.

Off the top of my head, I’m pretty sure I read it in New Scientist years ago. With some googling, I’ve found lots of people making the same claim in various comment sections, but not anything coming down one way or the other from anywhere especially reputable. I’ve also found some people on a soap-making forum saying that you don’t need preservatives if you’ve made the soap yourself and ensured it’s still alkaline after all the fats have saponified (which won’t necessarily be the case for store-bought soap as they often have extra fats so they moisturise skin a bit).

I love how the comment chain started with complaining about it being time consuming and it ended with suggesting a more time consuming method.

That’s the only way in my house! Muji’s soap dispensers last for years and you only need to dilute regular handwash with water to make it work.

Of course. Probably part of the issue is that liquid dispensers also dispense far too much soap for a single hand washing. I think they could be set to about 1/4 to 1/5 of the current amount and still have plenty.

That seems completely different. I use non-foaming soap at home and can get out exactly as much soap as I want by pressing the dispenser head less (or more, or multiple times). If I didn’t lather it, sure, it’d run off with the water. But I do, and so it doesn’t.

If you’re getting so much soap that it’s washed away even after lathering, I don’t see how foaming soap is going to help with that.

There’s this concept called lathering, I think it’ll change the way you look at soap.
