The picture of the white house in front of the white house somehow gives me a powerful message: everything in this place is fake, nothing is well thought out.

Like he wanted to have his redneck show in front of the house and then someone told him “uh sir we can’t actually see the white house from there, there’s all your UFC stuff in front of it”. “Oh. Meh, put a picture”.

No, there’s a scaffold in front of the WH to support the asinine UFC fights tonight (and the stands for those). It’s a temporary structure, theoretically (though of course, Dear Leader has floated the idea “as a joke” of just keeping it in place permanently “for other events”.)

Some countries have universal healthcare paid by their tax dollars instead of roller rink cheeto’s circus.

Some countries have no homeless because their tax dollars help the citizenry instead of lining the orange criminal’s pockets.

Some countries feed their children so that no child goes hungry in the midst of plenty.

Some countries don’t have a fucking fascist shitbag lying and stealing and grabbing anything not nailed down.

If anything orange shitbag is a good rep for what the U.S. be like for decades if not centuries.

In Rome, and other empires, when an Emperor was this egregiously bad, they would not only forcibly depose him, but also tear down all of his statues, works, scratch out his name from documents and dedications, and consign his memory to the garbage bin of history.

For all of their faults, they appeared to have far more courage than our current populations.

I’m never one to condone the death of people very much, but I wish nothing more than for Trump to die on camera like when Charlie Kirk got shot. I want the world to be able to watch, rewind, and watch again. I don’t need him to die slowly in hospital, I want there to be absolutely zero chance the right could pretend 8.5 billion people didn’t watch him bleed out on a sidewalk.

I actually am hoping more for a Khaddafi or Mussolini type of death. I want a huge mob with “rude implements” in their hands to bludgeon him to death on the steps of the Senate. I would consider that to be most appropriate. Equally appropriate would then be mobs hunting down his administration, enablers, donors, influencers, and some followers. Make it brutal, crude, painful, and bloody. Make the memory of it last two thousand years. Make it so crushingly final that the rest of his idiotic followers will weep for their fallen God in the throes of oppression which follows for all those generations.

And I haven’t even yet begun to express my utter revulsion and loathing for him and his followers.

…yeah, it’s essentially an open fabric mesh attached to scaffolding with an image printed across its face; they started as a way to shield construction activity from public view, then contractors began printing logos on them until someone realised that rendered façades could mitigate the visual impact of high-profile restoration projects in progress…

We’ve been ‘building’ a high speed rail route here in the UK for over a decade now. It’ll probably not be finished for another 10 years, isn’t going to reach as many cities as first planned, will probably cost as much as m**k is worth by the end, tickets will likeky cost you three legs and you’ll no doubt always arrive at your destination late!

I get your point, but don’t get too jealous of the idea!!

I don’t think it is (only) corruption. I blame two things, on one side there is no meaningful and certainly no long term political support for high speed rail infrastructure, neither in politics nor among voters on the other side legislation is seriously anti-rail development. Laws are tough on any infrastructure projects, causing overheads larger than the actual construction costs (possibly even multifold larger) but they are especially hostile against rail projects and even against operating rail.

Geography isn’t even part of that equation, it is an entirely different debate. (California is not so different from Spain, dry, mix of mountains and flats etc)

If only. It’s the universal western sickness of every change being up for endless debate, hearings and vetoes while doing nothing is seen as the default. Of course doing nothing is just as much a choice as doing something…

And yet it’s likely to get much worse, after we recover from seeing what happens when you DOGE it. The only bright spot here is the more illegal actions can be eventually walked back in court. That doesn’t undo the damage, but we’re going to need more laws like that

We in germany got u. We have this mega-project called ‘Stuttgart 21’, and it is going to be the new main station for Stuttgart. The completion was originally planned for 2019. It got repeatedly delayed, with the latest date for completion now being 2031. It is also severely over budget. If it comes to incompetence for mega-projects, germany is number 1 lol.

Stuttgart 21 is terribly late and over budget but it is a reasonable project in my opinion, even if many see that differently. There are some issues with it but overall it will be a considerable upgrade. Very substantial progress has already been made.

That said, Germany is a really negative model for rail development in Europe. It is still on another planet compared to the US though.

SouthPark made some lead way with changing the “F aye Gee” word to mean inconsiderate insecure people who drive loud motorcycles around. I think it stuck a bit for a while.

I still hear people making that joke sometimes.

It’s the only time you can call someone a fg. And that’s fine. We really did need a word for them and why not repurpose an outdated one. ?

South Park’s brand of enlightened centrism has played a not insignificant role in encouraging people not to vote. Even that goddamn giant douche and turd sandwich episode uncritically promotes a false equivalency where an admittedly not very useful container of water is the same as actual shit on a sandwich going in your mouth.

I think they were criticizing the government and how we consistently have two shitty options.

Doesn’t stan decide at the end of the episode it’s still best to choose the lesser shit option ? But there is some critique about how the people aren’t really represented anymore by politicians. Maybe they never were.

I do believe the creators have changed their position on a number of topics over the years. Like global warming.

They often criticize the left but they criticize the right even more.

I mean cartman is the character that represents the right conservative the most and the show makes it a point that cartman embodies all the worst traits of humans.
