Wait - there is a literal Ultimate Fighting event? Or have I been duped by the comments? Cuz that’d be the trashiest thing ever. Last person I personally knew who went to the White House 2 yrs ago was chastised for wearing open toed shoes, this is a whole new low for such a previously sacred place.

Hey, the best way to defund the oligarchy is to live a frugally as possible, cancel all your subscriptions, buy the least branded, least advertised bulk products you can. Don’t buy from major chains when you can avoid it. Turn on an ad blocker, or even better adnauseam.

If you can’t get some digital media direct from the artists, pirate it. Fuck the ethics discussion, any money you spend through an app store or through a major subscription service is quietly getting funneled to this shit.

Deny them your dollars and put your money away till things improve. Be a consumer on strike if that’s the least you can do.

    Who’s paying

    They voted it in

This is the US to its core. Half the other sides voters will subscribe to this pay per view.

    Trump is a symptom.

All the people who didn’t vote for him get to pay to line his pockets.

The people who did vote for him are rich grifters who don’t pay taxes or poor dumbasses who don’t make enough to pay taxes.

“reasonable Americans” are no longer Ds and Rs, that’s why independents are now over 40% of the voters, Ds and Rs will continue to lose their grip on the electorate (now at less than 30% each).

Yep, I can’t think of an event which represents them better than this. They might whine about that but it isn’t us that have the work or any learning to do to alter that view.

Please stop enabling the unreasonable Americans, it’s not reasonable.

First step? Your nation should stop buying American arms and products, and stop using the US dollar for international trade. That would really help, thank you

I haven’t followed the UFC for years since I realized that Dana White was an evil man and the UFC is an exploitative organization which abuses all of its fighters.

But I am guessing that this event will be on Pay-Per-View like most of their events, and so the UFC will cover the construction costs.

But at for who is paying for it, I would argue that all Americans are paying for it as a weakening of the Constitution, as Presidents historically can’t favor any specific private company using the White House, which if I remember correctly, are laws related to the emoluments clause of the Constitution.

And all humans everywhere are paying for it as a strike against basic human dignity and the progress of civilization. We’re back in Ancient Roman times watching gladiators fight in the Colosseum.

If Trump is involved, the answer is always taxpayers. This is an expense to taxpayers, even if UFC pays for parts of this. Staffing, security, utilities - WH budget.

Without a global guillotine initiative, pretty sure the whole world is fucked at this point.

I know the joke is already old but it’s crazy how similar current US is to Idiocracy. The reality tv star pedophile president is building a wrestling cage, the minister of education is wrestling fantasy network CEO lmao the reality is so unserious.

If anyone thinks this is not peak decline of an empire I really don’t know how. If not for all people that are hurt by this change it would be funny and I wish I didn’t care because say what you want - this is incredibly entertaining. If I was a human hating alien I wouldn’t skip a single US episode.

It’s not even a real sport. It figures Trump’s favorite sport would be two guys beating each other senseless. He’s nothing short of the American Caligula. He’d have them fight to the death, if he thought he could get away with it.

I mean, whether it’s a “sport” or not feels more like a semantic argument… but you’re spot on with everything else. I’m not a Roman history buff but this definitely reminds me of “Gladiator”. 🙃

I dont think Ufc fighters CTE rate is that high. I’d guess its less than rugby definitively less than boxing, kick boxing and NFL.

The only ones still at high risk or CTE are hard sparring to often and staying in the sport way past their prime.

But I can’t say, there isnt really any good data on cte in mma and I’d be wanting to separate the past 10 years from the early days because a lot has changed in fighter safety. Fights are stopped earlier, there is brain scans after knockouts and mandatory cooldown long periods after a bad knockout.

Its not like boxing where people are taking 300 blows to the head each fight. most of the blows aren’t to the head and grappling makes up a significant portion of the fight.

Does anyone not know the answer to this question? It’s just like it was in the feudal era. If you saw something being built, it was either for the church or the king and you paid for it.
