I honestly thought that their response to blue states gerrymandering their own districts in retaliation was for them to finally give up the game and try to advocate for a national ban, like we’ve been trying to do for years unsuccessfully.
I never imagined the actual response was going to be to speedrun cancelling elections that they know they are about to lose so they have more time to redraw their already gerrymandered maps to be somehow even worse than before.

I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one who finds AI coding to be an almost futile exercise. I spend more time talking to the damn robot trying to get it to fix problems than I would if I had just done it more slowly and deliberately in the programming language I am familiar with, or just circumvented the automation effort and done the task manually. All three seem to take about the same amount of time.
Wow, that’s actually quite cool. Change will come from the ground up, imo. Good for them learning a better system. In another generation or two they will probably be the ones to spearhead the effort to do away with the old Imperial system entirely.
I don’t know why the U.S. gets shit for using the system that our colonial overlords forced us to use in the first place.
The only reason we’re still using it today is inertia. If we gradually tried phasing it out we’d have a lot more people on board with officially switching over to it versus the “ripping the band-aid” method of doing it all at once and causing culture shock to a bunch of ignorant Americans who haven’t done math since 8th grade.

I don’t disagree, but the problem stems from neither party being motivated to be anything more than ideologically different from one another, and the system being designed on purpose to squash a viable 3rd party from ever emerging. If we instead had a parliamentary system and did away with FPTP voting, we could have more coalition building around issues rather than feeling like we have no choice but to select what we deem to be the lesser of two evils, and political parties would be forced to fix issues rather than just campaign on them.

If we could fix just one of those four issues, things would gradually start to get better. But the politicians in Washington don’t have the political will or desire to do so, because removing any one of them naturally limits their power and authority.
Take my word for it Brits, don’t let this toxic tipping culture sneak in. Once it’s in place it will be impossible for it to go away.
