The difference is that fascists crumple under ridicule. It’s an idealogy entirely dependant on maintaining the appearance of incredible power (strategic, political and physical) and anything that makes them look lame or maybe a bit kooky completely subverts the entire premise.
Therefore, setting aside normal rules of “no kink shaming” for example to redicule fascists hurts the fascists far more than it hurts those with actually extreme/subversive kinks. Fascists have no defense against redicule, meanwhile someone mocked for simply engaging in kink with other consenting adults can simply say “I like what I like and everyone involved consented so what’s it to you?”
For a real world example, the Ku Klux Klan was heavily set back about a century ago when a journalist wrote an expose about how goofy their super-secret ceremonies are that they do behind closed doors, and suddenly people stopped seeing them as scary masked mobs but instead started seeing them as sad angry men who engage in silly dress up games with other sad angry men.
The fact that you think this is about being bad meanies and kinkshaming and not like, misogyny and transphobia while both women and trans people are losing their legal protections in the US is telling. You think this is about making them look “goofy?” Have you maybe considered you’re not in the position to intuitively understand how problematic the specific conditions of this “goofyness” is? I do get it. Part of me wants to do the same because I find their worldviews to be ridiculous and that makes me want to use them to insult them even more. It seems ridiculous, like telling someone “you’re a duck, quack quack quack,” and them then being gravely insulted. It’s just stupid. They’re just stupid.
The reality, though, is there are enough of these bigots that they affect the reality we all live in, including the meaning of the terms they use, and this changes the implications when others use them. I don’t use them, despite my childish, vindictive urge to do so, because I don’t want to further reinforce the hurt they’ve already caused.
Here’s the thing, it doesn’t matter what is cathartic for you if your response to fascists functions to further their goals. The fundamental joke of this post is that this man is foolish for pretending to be a woman. Whether or not he is “stupid” for being a bigot with a crossdressing kink (as many bigots do), the common value both in his fetishization of feminisation and jokes such as this is that it is demeaning to present feminine in a male body.
Liberals are far too self-satisfied with identifying “hypocrisy” in this man’s actions to interrogate their own misogyny and transphobia when they respond to it. They think their internally held values somehow reduces the consequences of their actions, so contributing to the genocide of trans people through the reinforcement of these values is misrecognized as justified because they are, “making fun of the bad guys;” much to the benefit of fascists.
