“Several” U.S. fighter jets have crashed over Kuwait, the nation’s military has confirmed, as video spread online showing the fiery aftermath of the plane falling to earth.
The video emerged hours after President Donald Trump confirmed that there would be “likely more” servicemembers as a result of the weekend strikes on Iran. The Islamic Republic has launched a barrage of retaliatory strikes against targets in the Gulf in the wake of the death of the country’s leader, Ali Hosseini Khamenei.
In a statement posted on X, Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense said that several aircraft were involved in the crash.

It is indeed. Mainly because I’m from Australia, so my very weak knowledge of the subject extended to knowing that the RAAF thinks even FA-18s are too old to use. Kind of a shame, btw, they are the best to have zooming loudly over you at barely safe heights above the War Memorial on Anzac Day.
Have you seen others to compare? I’ve seen both the Blue Angels (F/A-18s) and Thunderbird (F-16s) and both feel the same when #6 sneaks away to shock and awe you from behind at Mach 0.8 while the noob does a near-stall smile and wave routine in the main stage

I, for one, thought they were supposed to have been replaced in the US by the F-22 and/or F-35 and therefore assumed they were only still being used by other countries.
Honestly, I didn’t realize how many F-35s were already in service. I thought we were still at the beginning of their rollout. But it turns out we have more F-35s than F-15s at this point.
The F-22, while totally awesome, was never really going to be the primary fighter for the airforce, it’s just too damn expensive.
And the F-16, that’ll probably be in service for decades still. It’s just so good at what it does at a relatively low cost per unit. The F-35 can take point, spot targets and relay targeting data, and the F-16s can use that to fire missiles from extreme range. It’s a pretty good system really.
It’s the mainstay of the US airforce. We can’t all fly F-22s or stealth bombers.

Ok, so your second link, about the carrier not able to launch F-35s, you do realize that isn’t a problem with the F-35, right? The article states that the capability requires a major refit, but that refit hasn’t occurred because the carrier is still on what may have been the longest carrier deployment in history. So they just haven’t had a chance to do the refit. I don’t see how you could say that’s a problem with the aircraft.
And your third link about F-35 shipping without radar, that appears to not actually be happening, at all. Just according to the very article you linked. Did you read the article right?
So the program has gone on a long time and it has gone way over budget, that’s all quite true, I doubt anyone would dispute that.
But some of your sources here are just bad, they aren’t really supporting your position.
