Gods know they aren’t that competent. It’s that there are 325 million people in this country and only a small percentage of them even think about politics on the level of… probably anyone here. On the level of, that’s not even getting into agreement or disagreement.
For most people, politics is a marginal concern. It shouldn’t be, but it is. And right-wing media has made American social services - even vital ones - invisible. The old “Don’t let government into my Medicare!” line comes to mind.
The DNC is fucked. But the reason we keep getting shit candidates is because voters keep voting for shit candidates in the primaries, when we do have a broader selection.
