Before reading the anaconda bit, i saw the lizardy thing, and thought this was going to be about having to turn a dinosaur into oil first.
Would it be environmentally friendly to drain the oil inside the snake? 🤔
Oil is actually nutritious for car-eating anacondas.
It is an anaconda large enough to swallow a car so it would not only be environmentally friendly, but also an obligation to mother Earth.
!Anacondas are an invasive species.!<
This could be a South American mechanic!
Hola, señor.

The joke here is great, but what is really striking to me is how the artist, even with their simple drawing style, perfectly captured the affect of each person pictured. The clerk with a bit of anxiety delivering bad news yet with detached indifference, the other mechanic thinking “goddamit, another one of these. I don’t get paid enough…”, and the patron just
exacerbatedexasperated by the whole thing and having to once again make a bad choice from a menu of worse choices.I always thought it took much more artistic talent/effort to communicate these feelings, but this comic is an eye opener for me for how simple it is drawn, but how effective in communicating.
Also they gave big tiddies to the snake for the furry crowd
I, uh, I think those are the tires of the car it ate.
Art is interpretive, it could be both
Snake milk
Snilk
Don’t forget about the huge balls it has as well.
Scalie crowd.
Good observations, but don’t mistake simplicity for a lack of talent or effort. Minimal styles take a lot of effort to get right. You may only see one line for a mouth for example, but it may have been redrawn several times to get it just right. That takes both talent and effort.
I remember this every time I try to draw a damn mouth. It’s so distressing for me.

I’m saying the opposite. Or rather, the talent in expressing the ideas doesn’t require a photorealistic drawing talent. I’m recognizing the talent for communicating these human emotions is separate, but not less amazing. This artist has this incredible talent!

Corrected, thank you. Aging eyes and lack of proofreading on my part are to blame.
Well get started.
Get started with what?
With your web comic
Are you being intentionally evasive, or is that just your “thing”?
Dude, this style is faaaar from simple. Your eye is just not trained to digest all of the work that goes into it. It has tons of artistic merit.
Simple looking doesn’t imply low effort. It implies a neat and tidy aesthetic
Ok so I stand corrected. I’m not a native english speaker so I think I’m taking simple to mean simplistic. In my language we use simple more or less to denote lack of complexity, and a different word to denote neat and tidy.
Okay fine. I’ve tried to say this 2 times, but apparently I’m bad at communicating. None of my opinions have changed in my posts, this is what I’ve been trying to say this entire time. I’ll spell out what I meant from the very first post:
- These drawings don’t look like a photo
- I had thought to communicate these emotions required being able to draw like a photo
- I have learned by looking at this comic that drawing these complex emotions does not require drawing like a photo.
- I have learned by looking at this comic that drawing complex emotions is a different artistic skillset than drawing like a photo
- The artist is clearly very artistically talented.
I’m not bashing the artist at all. I’m not saying they are bad at art. I’m not saying their simply drawing style is simple to produce. I’m saying it doesn’t look like a photograph, yet still accomplishes the artists goal of relaying these emotions incredibly effectively.
Got it. I wanted to convey that art can be complex even if it is not photorealistic, and appears simple on the surface. It’s not necessarily simple to produce either, (more so than a fully rendered painting well, yeah) but imo it’s important to aknowledge the skill behind something like this.
but imo it’s important to aknowledge the skill behind something like this.
From my first post that’s what I’ve been doing. I’m not sure why you’re taking this thread where I have done nothing but compliment the artist and their skills and try to make it sound like I’m insulting the artist instead. Even with your response here you’re doing that again.
I said “got it” in my previous comment to aknowledge that. I’ m not insisting that you aren’t in my past comment. I’m explaining why I felt the need reply the way I did. The way I intrerpteted Initially your wording prompted me to write. Just that
Gotcha, no hard feelings. I think we both appreciate the art and the artist.
This user you’re replying to is IMO either a bot, or feeding an Ai’s answers to us via comments.
This isn’t the first time I’ve been accused of being a bot, nor of using AI. Instead, its the other thing. I’m older. This is just how we talk. Heck, why do you think LLMs talk this way? Because it was trained on people data that talk like I do.
I don’t really use LLMs or AI for regular tasks like posting online. I grew up with the skills to do that
Lol. Exactly how I’d expect GPT or Grok to answer. 🤷♂️
Isn’t that convenient! One lesson you learn as you get older is to simple “let people continue to be wrong”. That’s what I’ll do now. You should probably just block me then because I must be AI, right? I think you’ll be doing both of us a favor. Have a great day!
Snake oil?
Car mechanics always inventing new problems when there are none smh my head
the guy at the dealership said it was genuine snake leather
Shaking my head (my head)
I better get that Anaconda for free.
