The U.S. government shutdown entered its sixth day Monday with no end in sight after another round of blame games and sniping between leaders of the two parties on the Sunday talk shows.

Democratic and Republican leaders are locked in a standoff about the way forward as it takes 60 votes in the Senate to pass a bill, and the GOP needs five more Democrats to advance its bill to reopen the government temporarily.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has called it a partisan bill written without Democratic input, demanding a negotiation to win the necessary votes from his party. But Republican leaders insist there will be no negotiation over their short-term bill.

So where is the problem? Republicans won’t negotiate, so Democrats have no reason to agree to it. Just push this message out loud and clear.

Yeah but Trump is the GOAT so he’s aiming for a new record. Might even double his record because, as the late great Charlie Kirk said, “Empathy is a made up new age term.”

What a great choice of leader, yall.

I see, so they didn’t want to talk about such things before the shutdown but now suddenly they’re totally open and willing to talk if they get their way first.

No deal, abusive relationships end up with that “It’ll be different this time” line routinely.

If Schumer gives in, they’ll make new demands…

I saw something about how once the House reps from special elections are sworn in. The house has the votes to release the Epstein files.

Republicans aren’t going to let that happen, even if they have to keep the shutdown going till midterms.

Well they have the votes to force a vote that puts everyone on record at least. I don’t know if that’s enough to force the release but one can hope.

It’s not like Democrats have anything to lose here, if the government stays closed. Republicans hold the swing state seats.

I love the republicans want a clean bill to give them time. they got that in spring and they wasted that time. Im good if the government stays shut down till trump is gone.
