There is nothing wrong with punching a bigot in the mouth
Hell, I think it would be perfectly acceptable to hit them with a car. Superman did it.
And anyone who says otherwise is either a fool or speaking in bad faith. Tolerance is a social contract where the involved parties agree not to give each other shit over perceived differences. To be intolerant is to opt out of that contract, and thus its protections.
Yep
I find it hilarious when people make the mistake of confusing my patience and tolerance for weakness
I would argue that it’s actually our moral duty to punch a bigot in the mouth. I believe that this is one of those rare cases where action IS self-defense
This puts it so well. There are plenty of leftest I could disagree with and sometimes do. But when we are coming from similar ethicis and world view then I can respect it.
This post assumes politics and ethics are mutually exclusive, but in reality they are not. Politics is the distribution of political goods, and we are constantly evaluating those distributions as good or acceptable or not. Evaluating something as good or not can only ever happen if we hold ethical stances. In other words, politics always requires ethics.
I understand that the purpose of this post is to say something is fundamentally different about today compared to the past. But would you say the civil rights movement was less about ethics and more about politics? What about anti-slavery? Suffrage? Feminism? Labor rights in the late nineteenth century?
What divide us is our humanity. Some of us are queer, and others are pieces of parasitic biomass invading humans.
Kind of the same thing, really.
That’s what i was thinking.
Either way it’s a spook
Regardless of our political beliefs, religion, or sexual orientation once we all realize that we outnumber them thousands to one there time on top will quickly end.
You know what really grinds my gears? What I have no tolerance for? Dairy!
What if I told you that both can be equally divisive?
