As a German, I hate that “im” is always going to be corrected to “I’m” if you do write de/en.

Im is like at the moment or inside, used very frequently. So it’s hellishly annoying to have to watch for that all the time.

in gboard, at least, you can set two dictionaries for the same keyboard, which I think should theoretically prevent that from happening. If you’re using an iphone or another keyboard an equivalent feature might exist.

I know you’re probably just ranting but I’m going to say this anyway because I, too, had the same issue before discovering this

        gboard

If you haven’t considered it already, please consider switching to a open source keyboard that doesn’t collect all your typing data like heliboard

Also recommending Futo keyboard (in the Play store or their website) for the same reason!

Futo uses an offline LLM for text/speech predictions so your data never leaves your device.

I remember that I tried it a while ago and there was something that prevented me from actually changing. However, I tried it again now and although I don’t remember what that feature was it doesn’t seem to be missing anymore so I think that I’m going to try using it from now onwards!

I’m stuck (mentally) with SwiftKey. The language is shown as de/en.

        Is there a possibility too?

go to swiftkey > language > add language and it looks like simply adding a german keyboard should do the trick.

          It says:

Multilingual: You can type in any installed language that is supported by your current keyboard layout without the need to switch keyboards.

I hate that. I also hate when my phone capitalizes everything it decides is a proper noun or a title name or the name of a band.

Okay. I was bluffing. It’s swipe-to-text and I shouldn’t be using it anyway but I started years ago and now I can’t stop. I just wanted to be included too and I didn’t want people to know that I type my badly written comments using spyware.

Sometimes it makes me use the wrong “there” or type a a word twice 😭 and I look like a total doofus. Also I’m on multilingual so it keeps making all my a’s into å. I don’t even speak a language with å
