You say idiots like you’re immune. Every single one of us are experts in our own domain, but have neither the time nor the energy to become experts in all domains.

So we rely on other experts and the media to inform us, because that is historically their job. The media has unfortunately been co-opted by other interests, and has failed the public by spreading sensationalism and outright misinformation.

TLDR: Don’t point the finger at your fellow man, point the finger at those who’s job it was to inform them

I’d say that it’s not the media’s job to inform us anymore, it’s more to influence us and keep us docile. There are some small publications who still stick to informing people and telling the truth as objectively as they can but those are becoming fewer and fewer.

It sucks that it is this way but in a society where aunt Jo on Facebook can have a bigger audience spouting her nonsense then the local newspaper it is the way it is.

I think what I hold issue with is the assumption that Aunt Jo getting a larger audience because her audience are idiots, and not because Aunt Jo’s message is being artificially inflated by large corps trying to keep real news down
