Redhat is not the original. Just of the ongoing projects, there is both Slackware and Debian, which are both older than Redhat. Redhat stands out because they are a commercial, for profit company, so they have more money and resources to invest in Linux development than most organizations, and they have a vested interest since it is their product base.
Bitwig has a native Linux app, and is made by ex-Ableton developers.
Yea, but recent events have shown that intelligence is no match for stupidity! I’m stickin’ with the Subgenius! Plus, the triple your money-back guarantee is a no-brainer. 🤣
My money is on Bob Dobbs!

This movie is pretty well made:

I don’t disagree with you, but the standard GUI based update manager in Mint works really well, especially for new users.
Awesome move. Welcome to Linux. Mint is a great daily driver. It just works. And when something goes wrong, you have the ability to poke around and see in detail what is happening, and fix it with the help of the excellent Linux community.
Not to mention the clear advantage of Linux not spying on you or serving you ads.
Enjoy your new OS!
