If you believe climate change is going to cause mass starvation, the surest way to avoid having a child not suffer is to not have the child in the first place. Do I want to raise a wage slave? Someone who cannot afford a house of his/her own? We’re past peak oil so many aspects of life are going to get more expensive and worse. The lack of children seems pretty rational at the individual level. Why subject them to an increasingly unpleasant life?

It is ridiculous. I am interviewing for embedded systems development where we frequently write to specific bits in a register. I am sure these kids have had to learn something, but I can’t figure out a polite way to ask them to give me some examples of what.

My company probably doesn’t get the best candidates (defense contractor that pays somewhat less than market rate), but yeah.

Two nibbles is an acceptable answer.
