  • The addictiveness of a drug is actually a quantifiable metric. In the early 20th century, scientists exposed hundreds of drug naive individuals to different psychoactive compounds. Although there are individual differences, something like half of the people exposed to intravenous heroin and methamphetamine would actively seek out the next hit.


  • I was going to donate $5 per month, but I had second thoughts after seeing the profile picture on the donation site. I probably will still donate eventually, but I am not comfortable supporting an openly biased platform.

    …I’m new. I’ll probably donate. I just need to make sure censoring people for different opinions isnt as common as it originally seemed. The fact that I was already banned from one of the most popular communities isn’t a good sign.

    If those mods are the people that would receive the donations, then I don’t think they would use it for anything good…just a better funded echo chamber.





  • I don’t have much faith in the Democrats. I’m reading Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States. It’s a great book, and everyone should give it a read. It basically sums up the entire history of America from a Liberal law professor’s point of view.

    … regardless. In terms of taxes, Democrats are largely responsible for increasing taxes on the poor and subsidizing the rich. They at the same time give weak concessions to the lower class, but these are flimsy enough to be overturned the minute Republicans are in charge.

    He summed it up in one sentence:

    In a two-party system, if both parties ignore public opinion, there is no place voters can turn.
