Itās one thing to have differing views, but Iāve seen enough attempted reddit migrations to be relieved that the popular communities in the fediverse so far havenāt been about crazy racist stuff or other extreme right bullshit.
I am also glad that Iām getting away from redditās general political shitposting, which was more left leaning. You couldnāt have any proper discourse on there, and even I with my generally more left leaning views recognized that.
āThe paradox of tolerance states that if a society is tolerant without limit, its ability to be tolerant is eventually seized or destroyed by the intolerant. Karl Popper described it as the seemingly self-contradictory idea that in order to maintain a tolerant society, the society must retain the right to be intolerant of intolerance.ā - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox_of_tolerance
I for one welcome our intolerant of intolerance server admins across the fediverse.
I like to think of it as tolerance as a social contract. If you arenāt tolerant, you break the terms of the contract and are not privileged to benefit from it.
Nice, though the very first panel misspells āintoleranceā.
I like the comic.
I get why youāre posting this comic and I contextually agree with you. However, the comic itself is bad, and it distorts quite a bit what Popper said.
The quote in the Wikipedia link that youāve shared is considerably better:
Sorry, but what comic are you referring to? Some other users also referenced panels of a comic, but I donāt see any comicāor any link other than to Wikipedia.
Has the user edited it out?
Either it was edited in and that edit didnāt reach your instance, or Lemmy doesnāt like something about how Kbin does images. Either way, hereās a direct link to the comic (youāll have seen it before, itās posted a lot).
Annoyingly, I canāt view the post from its own instance because it seems like Kbin requires an account even to view?
Would love if someone has a Lemmy link to any instance other than mine so I can rule out that first possibility.
This is definitely very possible. Iāve already encountered cases where Kbin users werenāt able to interact with my images from Lemmy in quite the same way Lemmy users could.
Kbin.social doesnāt require you to log in to see content, or at least it doesnāt when I try. Hereās a link to the same comment on lemmy.world (I donāt see the comic) and on fedia.io, a different Kbin instrance (also no comic). No idea why itās only showing up on this instance.
Huh, weird. When I click the āview comment at its home instanceā button the Lemmy UI shows me, it takes me to this URL:
https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/116828/-/comment/461059
Which redirects me to:
https://kbin.social/login
Interesting that the image doesnāt show up embedded even in another Kbin instance. @[email protected] you seemed to have some knowledge, do you know whatās up?
Iām also getting a login page from your link (ācopy url to fediverseā on /kbin) when logged out, but not from this one (ācopy urlā on /kbin).
lemmy users canāt see embedded kbin images in comments. hereās the link to the embedded comic.
you are the intolerant one, so we should not tolerate your intolerance? do you support yourself being banned from the fediverse entirely, due to your intolerance?
