Tesla will stop making the Cybertruck next year, according to CEO Elon Musk, who said on X that the company will use the factory space to build more two-seater Cybercab robotaxis.

The decision to wind down the futuristic, steel-clad EV comes after just a few short years of underwhelming sales. When Musk handed over the first few Cybertrucks in late 2023, he predicted Tesla would sell around 250,000 per year. It was supposed to be such a cornerstone of Tesla’s future that, before construction began, the company talked about its Texas factory as the “Cybertruck factory.” But Tesla has instead sold just tens of thousands — total — over the last three years.

Remember to point and laugh at every Cybertruck you see (while you can)! They knew who Musk was, and supported him anyway…

I actually saw one of those ‘I bought this before we knew he was crazy’ stickers on one in the wild. Like, no buddy, you were fully aware of the monster he was at that point.

I legit thought i was the only person who did this! A guy near my office owns one and started to recognize me in my lesser ev and now it’s a race to see if i can point and laugh before he flips me off. Now i change it up on him and shake my head at him while wearing the biggest, shit eating grin.

Maybe it’s petty of me. Or maybe we need to bring public shaming back to counteract the Elmo brainworm all these sycophants have🤷🏻‍♂️

    • I’m kind of surprised at how many of them I see. I’m not sure it’s just that they stand out so much or if I live in an area (Southern California) where they’re more popular, but they’re so awful in person that it’s hard to get my head around.

Norcal here. I see them kinda frequently. But we live in the most populous state in the nation and there’s a lot of people here with funny money. I’m sure they’re much rarer in other parts of the country. Definitely gonna be rarer now, lolz.

I fortunately have never seen one IRL, even living in a European city where people have more cents than sense.

From what I understand, Cybertrucks aren’t even allowed in Europe because they don’t meet European car safety standards.
