It should be noted the startup improvement was on Steam Beta before the release of the Epic Vibe Launcher but it is funny regardless

It didn’t even take Valve a week to optimize their client after Epic updated theirs.

No way that actually happened that’s hilarious. I’m guessing it just launched the first game that was installed alphabetically or something?

I still can’t believe he basically ruled game engines after Carmack shot himself in the foot with IdTech Doom3 and megatextures, and fumbled the fucking ball this hard.

He’s literally sitting on fortnite money ON TOP and STILL FUCKING UP.

      HOW?!

When you’re on top, it’s easy to insulate yourself from anyone willing to tell you, “No, that’s a stupid idea!”

I tried the update on two different machines (one with a SATA SSD boot drive, other with M.2), and my Steam startup time is still about 15 seconds on both.

Yeah Steam is cool and all but this is not its strong suit. It is rather hilarious to see every other app on my CachyOS install launch in the blink of an eye, and then Steam is really no different than it was on Windows.

It been downhill since they went Electron, I don’t remember the old app taking more than 3 to 4 seconds. Since the Electron client loading times have been unpredictable sometimes 5-10 seconds and sometimes to around 30 seconds even though no updates available.

I mean, it depends on who’s using it, but usually. Do you think epic decently implemented features with AI? Because I doubt it. They can’t even set resolution properly.

Damn ONE minute too late, I was gonna say the same thing lmao

Yea AI CAN be decent and useful, but you gotta put the effort in to check and fix it’s fuck ups. Epic is not the ones I’d trust to do that lmao

In this case AI is then probably better than their programmers, it has advanced significantly in the last 6 months

I opened epic, it froze my laptop, and then gave me a crash report code about resolution. I don’t think epic is competent enough to review code. If they can’t review code, it doesn’t matter how good the llm is, unless it’s perfect.
