Democratic leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives have condemned a raid on Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home as “deeply disturbing” and accused the Trump administration of a “rogue abuse of power” just weeks ahead of November’s midterm elections.

Let’s see if they do anything besides strong words and maybe some paddles.

    Nothing but words.

It’s ironic that folks like you claim to be against the concept of “All talk no action” when you yourselves only ever vaguely allude to what it is you think the Democrats should be doing.

The children’s table is reserved for the adult children that complain loudly but don’t actually have any solutions.

If there’s something you think the Democrats should be doing, why don’t you just say it?

I guess you’d spend the time detailing it since it’s literally your point to make. You made a top level comment on this post complaining about how the Democrats won’t do…something that you are unable to articulate, yet demand from them.

Continuing to be evasive by refusing to elaborate on your own opinion is not exactly helping you make whatever point it is you’re trying to make. Nor is calling other people children while you behave like the quintessential Reddit teenager.

But I will always take a moment from my day to post and point out anyone whose “advocacy” either calls for violence or instructs people to not support the Democrats, which are both positions that benefit the Nazis.

So congrats on helping the Nazis! I’m sure if your family still spoke with you, they’d be Proud (Boys) too.

They all chase incentives. They are only in congress in the first place as a career anyway. Idk if any democratic candidate has even been floating the idea of overturning citizens united recently, but until they become the party of money out of politics having made bribing politicians illegal and having re-nationalized the federal reserve the US currency system back from the parasite class, I think they both look nearly the exact same shade of purple to me. Once buying children from over seas is off the table and no epsteen class sociopaths are ever platformed again, politics may become a tool for protecting and producing avenues for upward mobility for the lowest quality of life individuals, families, and communities, both “domestic” and “foreign”

Change takes time and we are moving in the wrong direction. You’re giving the “both sides” argument and I don’t buy it for a fucking minute. We didn’t have these aggressive ICE tactics under any Dem, we didn’t have wildly reduced NIH, medicare, and medicaid funding under Dems (including food inspection changes that are working against us). We didn’t have “woke is the cause of all things evil” under Dems (and DEI includes protections for disabled people). We didn’t have environmental regulations wiped out under Dems. We didn’t have our election integrity threatened under Dems… I could go on. All these things are incredibly important but because you buy into the “both sides” argument all you can see are the extremes.

what we think doesn’t matter, only what we do. And one does not have to “buy” ideas, they are free to pick up and set down at any time, contrary to popular beliefs. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I don’t disagree with you. I simply fear that generations will pass with people still continuing to be sold to leaders of whatever system is in control before we can ever work meaningfully towards dismantling trafficking pipelines, if that could ever even be possible here.

I’m not advocating against voting for democrats, in case you were inserting that into your understanding of my position. I think if you can vote, you should vote for them this election, especially if you live in a christian nationalist community, since that would likely suggest that you would be directly contributing toward a more workable [pun found] position for the working (non-parasite) class in the future. That doesn’t have to mean that I expect any restorative policies out of the Democrats at the federal level any time soon. We can create new parties systems, it’s not illegal or impossible

This is a pretty serious escalation. We all knew it was coming, so I’m not going to act surprised. But let’s all take a moment just to acknowledge how serious it is that a sitting president just had his DOJ (or DHS, whoever it was) raid the home of a political opponent without probable cause, any evidence or reasonable suspicion of wrongdoing, and presumably no warrant.

Like we knew he was on a hitler kick, but this now so close to the midterms is just… well, very hitler of him…

It’s weird to me that so many people are still convinced there is a peaceful way out of fascism. There can be no peace while conservatives continue to infest our nation. They need to be completely removed before we will find any amount of peace. Conservatives are truly, deeply evil and cannot stop harming everyone around them. They must be forcibly stopped or they will only get worse.

That’ll happen when you stop teaching people history.

      Fascists love the poorly educated.

    • This won’t stop me from voting in the upcoming midterms, but I’m of the opinion that the last presidential election was The Last Election, in that I mean the last one that could have mattered. People refused to vote against genocide at home because of genocide on the other side of the world (or so they said).

So yeah. Forceful removal of fascists is the only way forward left.

Then you don’t understand what is actually happening. Just getting trump out of office is not enough. There need to be expedited, quick trials and immediate punishment for the pedophilia and treason that has been livestreamed in 4k for the last decade.

Viktor orban is free. There are some more show trials but even his rival that “defeated” him says “the courts must decide”.

What do you think will happen in our country?

Everyone has been primed for quick and happy acceptance of fascism. We were given an illusion of choice. Descend into techno fascism through physical violence, or administrative means. Either way, the people behind all of the issues here will not face time and are already funding Democrats (Thiel).

People will be so happy that trump is gone and they won’t even remember about flock cameras, employers monitoring your own body heat and emf frequencies to “know your mood”. We will not get any money back from the tarriffs. Prices will not go back down to anything substantial. They will be so distracted by the judge Judy like committee hearings and “special prosecutors” that will be “so close” to convicting anyone meaningful

        And you will all cheer

Only because of the EU actually punishing Orban for democratic backsliding by withholding funds. It is also hard to do authoritarian things when part of a confederated organisation. Meanwhile, the US has a more centralised government and a single culture, so it regulatory capture is much easier for any authoritarian figures to sneak in.

It’s weird to me that so many people are still convinced there is a peaceful way out of fascism.

It’s not a matter of conviction, it’s a matter of impotence. Fascists are mobilized, organized, and well-financed by their oligarch allies. Antifascists are untrained, scattered, and overwhelmingly working class or outright lumpen.

Conservatives are truly, deeply evil and cannot stop harming everyone around them. They must be forcibly stopped or they will only get worse.

Well, you seem like you’ve got the Will to Power. Get out there and get to it, then. Wave your sword around. Slay the dragon. It should be easy.

I may not be able to slay the entire dragon, but I can encourage my fellow antifascists to act.

Just because we act alone, it doesn’t mean we are alone in the fight. Whether a resistor’s taste is subtly lethal or violently overt, there are countless ways to resist fascism locally.

Conservatives are a wide-spread infestation. They are relatives. They are colleagues. They are neighbors. Be discrete. Be merciless. Be prolific.

When then midterm is done, if the democrats win, the head of DHS (Markwayne Mullin) should be hauled in for contempt of Congress, then thrown in jail. Every agent involved should be put on a list of people unemployable in America and their contacts all investigated and any hint of foreign influence should turn this into treason and conspiracy charges for every last one. It seems we’re paying for a firing squad and money is tight, so let’s get our value out.

I get that this won’t happen, but if Democrats need to compromise, let’s start negotiations from this position.

Get this, they’re already trying to create justification: Donald Trump has repeated the false claim that Ilhan Omar married her own brother to abuse the greencard system, despite the fact that the rumour started on a blog in 2016 from some random guy in Minnesota and has never resulted in any evidence.

I feel like if there was a shred of plausibility to this outrageous and infantile claim that it wouldn’t take over 10 years to find anything even when the admin deeply despised her for 6 of those years.

According to Omar, she and her family fled the Somalian civil war in 1991. They moved to the U.S. in 1995 after residing for four years in a Kenyan refugee camp. Omar’s mother had died, so her father and grandfather raised her and her siblings. In 2018, Omar showed a reporter from the Minneapolis Star Tribune photos of documents from her family’s entry into the U.S. after fleeing the civil war. She did not provide the reporter with copies of these papers but showed that they listed her father and showed her as the youngest of seven children. There was no one named Ahmed Nur Said Elmi listed in the documents.

We previously noted that Omar and her siblings all arrived in U.S. with refugee statuses. Omar was a minor when she became a naturalized U.S. citizen. How one sibling could end up with a completely different immigration status from the others remains unexplained by the claims.

Yeah that would be another major escalation in the ongoing constitutional crisis. It’s one more bizarre take from Republicans. They would have lost their minds if Obama went after a member of congress. I will say this for the current administration, though, they’re doing a fantastic job of highlighting improvement opportunities for the Constitution. If the country miraculously pulls itself together enough to pass any kind of amendments at all, but especially one limiting executive powers, they should definitely be named after the person whose kind of behavior it’s trying to limit. I know they’re just numbered. I mean a name like “The Bill of Rights,” which describes the first ten amendments.

I’m of the opinion that these doomers are either bots or closet republicans. Democrats have made mistakes but its suspicious that they never talk about the people actually doing the awful things that the Democrats are supposedly not doing enough to save them from while not holding any majorities.

I hope the only ppl that win their elections are socialist candidates…

I mean, I want to have those policies and services too, but you’re saying if it’s a non-socialist Democrat versus a Republican, you want the Republican to win?

I’m guessing if that happens you’ll get your wish for no DNC by 2028, because we’ll be a state-enforced one-party system by then.

We’re saying if its fascist or fascist-lite, we’ll select neither in order to pressure fascist-lite to do better. And if the Dems still dont wanna then they can lose. Its the only way to prerssure them. We cant play chicken we have to give them real consequences.

Sorry, but that doesn’t really make sense. Here are your options:

You don’t vote at all, or vote third party: If you totally sit out the vote, you are having no effect, or are voting for the status quo by omission.

You vote republican: You are voting for the worst outcome.

You vote democrat: You are voting harm reduction.

          Now to be clear:

          1. “Harm reduction” is not just about you. It’s about LGBTQ people, it’s about people who are on ACA who will die due to continued cuts, it’s about immigrants who are going to be abused. Even if you think the democrats are “fascism-lite” (which I think is severely reductionist), you are severely downplaying, to the point that it mirrors GOP lack of empathy, the harms others are experiencing due to your refusal to vote for harm reduction.

          2. In the primary, please, please vote for the most progressive person you can find, and let corporate democrats eat all the dicks. But in the general, please don’t just think of yourself and your emotional response of “screw them all!” Because “them all” includes your allies.

P.S.: Also, what is the point of downvoting good faith discussion? It really is not nice.

You’re right, and I see the hope for pressuring to work but doubtful. If Harris won there wouldn’t be all this damage to the world. Wouldn’t have all the suffering in concentration camps paid by taxes, and they would be contributing to the communities they were. Things were better two years ago and all the regression is directly related to bad maga choices. All the blame on Biden for global issues was dumb, but too many don’t care or know better so it will continue unfortunately.

I sure am, but I do hope the dems leadership pulls their heads out of their arses before the system immolates, but I’m not going to stand around while the government oils the gears of our half assed democracy with the blood of innocents. If it literally takes blood to continue, then it needs to end. You’re just whining because you are so sure the blood wont be yours-- when you shouldnt be sure. Thats ghoulish, bud. And a tad evil and short sighted. But you do you.

Well its not up to you, finitebanjo. The dems dont have the votes to lose their progressive voting block and still win elections-- even against trump-- so they can choose to do their effing jobs or they can lose. We’re well aware you’ll vote for them either way, thats factored into the math already.

And you can call people names all day finitebanjo, no one could possibly care any less what centrist armchair generals like yourself think. All you lot do is lose and cave constantly. You centrists are a complete clownshow.

Whats a “bad faith accelerationist” exectly? One who is not commited to true accelerationism? Or are you trying to say any accelerationist are bad faith?

I wont lift a finger to help dems until they stop it with the war crimes and embrace what used to be the core or the Democratic party platform. And the republicans are a completely lost cause and not worth addressing at all. So I yell at dems to do the right thing, and I promise them that until they do I sit on the couch. I dont ever vote for republicans. If thats bad faith to you, then I think your “faith” is worthless slave-like drivel.

Anyone who genuinely equates republicans and democrats is an idiot working for MAGA. If you didn’t exist in bad faith you’d know the parties aren’t the same, since their voting records are public. But you’re not engaging in good faith. If your position isn’t “prevent republicans from holding power by any means necessary” then you’re an accelerationist. If you don’t believe in strategic voting and harm reduction and the spoiler effect then you’re engaging in bad faith and are an accelerationist. That’s your whole account. You’re a bad faith MAGAt bot actively working to elect republicans. Now call in your little bitch brigade or use your alts to upvote your position like it’s the sane take, you fuckers do that shit constantly here.

edible_funk, your making room for people who are traitors to the old Democratic party platform and stand for nothing much unless its pro-grenocide, cashing checks from the wealthy, clamping down hard on free speech and whistle blowers, being soft on civil rights and soft on brutality of peaceful law abiding immigrants is exactly why the party is in the shitter. You and the idiot centrist leaders are the real problem here.

Harris lost voters off the base in every single demographic last election except a single point gain on college educated white males. Every single other subgroup were less supportive of her “platform”-- a “platform” the dem leaders continue to just double down on and not change at all. Notably, she lost ground arcoss black voters and female voters across the board. How can the party win doing the same old stuff that no one trusts them on now? What clearer signal do they need that they need to adapt and change? We have polls, we have election results. What the eff else do you need to see to conclude change is needed?

Changing nothing is an obvious path to losing again. I think they need to change, you think they dont. Thats fine, I’m not responsible for your bad choices. If my arguing for the dems to get a platform that can win is me being a bad faith accelerationist, whatever the ff that means, then fine, Im a bad faith accelerationist. But you’re a centrist who will lead us to another loss. I’d rather be the accelerationist in that equation.

“prevent Republicans from holding power by any means necessary”

Democrats have repeatedly funded MAGA candidates over the “extreme” and “unelectable” progressive and working class candidates. *And don’t forget about sabotaging Bernie! TWICE! How does this help the working class?

What benefits has your “strategic voting” given the working class? What benefits or great programs did they deliver using this strategy? Are you going to mention Obama Care? The Republican program that forces you to pay for insurance, although the business can’t deny you? (Although they can use AI to deny everything for you, that’s ok)

Where in any of your stupid takes, do RESULTS HAPPEN?

Well check mine since I agree with him. People should look up what an illusion of choice is.

The Democrats have not GIVEN anything for 40 years. They have not restored anything that was cut by Republicans.

The only thing I cant stand more than MAGA are you pieces of crap that can’t admit to being maga.

You are all just capitalists, our country IS capitalism. What policy decisions are YOU complaining about?

Here is why I say voting for the Democrats is no longer a viable option:

Hakeem Jeffries is secretly meeting with Kushner. He also takes Thiel money and started an AI regulatory committee with 6 other Dems that take Thiel money

Tammy duckworth has stated that after midterms, NOONE should be impeached and Dems should work WITH the pedophilic traitors (that would be YOU, working with them)

Gavin Newsome won’t even COMMIT TO TAXING BILLIONAIRES. Why on earth are you gonna run your mouth and say that he is going to hold anyone responsible and arrest anyone?

Thiel has a abandoned MAGA and is now funding Democrats

AIPAC DEMOCRATS ARE FUNDING AIPAC MAGA CANDIDATES OVER LEFT AND DSA CANDIDTAES.

Can you please explain to us how voting for Democrats will achieve anything for working class people?

No. All you will say is that the margins will be tight, we have to vote harder to get a majority, oh, the parliamentarian shot it down, oh the SCOTUS shut it down. We can’t elect progressives right now, they aren’t electable

No. I would want to see Americans free themselves of a fake two party system. It is revolution time and the only thing that pisses me off more than MAGA right now is every agency and institution that everyone allowed to fail that got us here.

Republican actions, followed by Democrat inaction, allowed FASCISM to coup America already.

There is no more America, we need something new and the people that got us here are not going to fix or stop it, or they would have
