They need to offer it to Mexico too, just to really piss off Trump.

Then we can start referring to North America as “Western Europe”. Just need someone to keep him distracted with a map and a sharpie

Especially because it’ll divide the “patriots” from the white supremacists who want to be called “Western Europeans” for skin color and not European progressive policy.

Like, it’s not hard to make a bunch of idiots start fighting each other.

Yes, that is certainly a worry. But I have confidence that the EU and Canada have factored that possible reaction into their calculations and prepared accordingly.

Trump wants to annex Canada. In his delusions he thought he could force it to happen by applying economic pressure despite everyone expect his inner circle of sycophants told him. Now that he’s realizing that it’s not going to happen he’s throwing a tantrum.

The quoted ‘hostile’ in the headline seems like it should be part of what Trump said, but the article doesn’t include any quote like that. This is all the Trump quotes it’s got:

US President Donald Trump has threatened to cut trade with the EU or impose “very serious tariffs” after the bloc proposed to make Canada its first ever “associate member”.

He called the prospect of Canada joining the EU “laughable” and called Canada a “terrible trade partner".

“If it’s a good intention, that’s fine. If it’s a bad intention, we’ll put very heavy tariffs on Europe,” Trump said.
