I’m 100% with you, problem is that in 4-8 years after Trump is gone, and with a Democrat as President, half the American population will have forgotten. Just like they did after Bush, and just like they did after 4 years of Trump’s first term.

When you artificially restrict your options in the voting booth (big shout out to First-past-the-post voting), solutions are few and far between.
Elections become who can be the 2nd worst, not the best. That’s why the democrats wanted Trump to be free to run again. I am sure democrats couldnt stop thinking about how bad they could be and still force people to vote for them if they could run against Trump again.
It is true that FPTP is contrary to a well functioning democracy, but in USA it has become down to an insane option of intolerance and recklessness that since Trump was elected the first time has decidedly turned to fascism, against the less insane option.
But it is not only FPTP, it is also the whole concept of a President with extreme powers for a democracy.
A president like in USA will always boil down to 1 man, ultimately making it a binary option, and that man has way more power than any single person should have in a democracy.
There is absolutely no 2nd worst about Republicans. There is no way you can reasonably argue the Democrats are worse than the Republicans.
Republicans are the result of a feedback loop on insane rhetoric where psychopathy is interpreted as a symbol of freedom. And a government and media normalizing that psychopathic mindset.
In many cases that side of politics and media have completely lost contact with reality. That is textbook insane!
