    This statement is so fundamental to the problems of capitalism. Survival of the human race is not good for shareholders. That is precisely why all the climate etc. bullshit happens. And even if the shareholders or company don’t want to end the human race they have to or else they will be out competed and others might be even worse, so cutting the wages is good for the employees. States can’t really do anymore as they have to ensure their economy is doing well the same way companies have to ensure to be profitable. There is of course some leeway, especially in rich countries/highly profitable companies, but faced with fundamental problems such as climate change the system can’t change it’s course completely

    At least we have AI now, so it can keep.running the stock market.higher and higher after we all.die from hest and disease and lack of food.

      Oh that won’t be a problem. Data centers stealing all of our water will assure that we all die of thirst long before we have the chance to starve… Damnit, this timeline sucks.

    My partner’s parents keep telling their kids they’re going to spend every dime they have before they die.

    I don’t think the shareholders give a fuck who holds the proverbial bag after their dread.
