Might be interesting to see what happens if they grab someone wearing conductive fabric. Give it a path of least resistance that doesn’t include the person being groped.

Nothing would happen… The circuit is between the pads on the gloves, you’d have to complete the circuit going through the brown shirt to do anything unexpected… Which is entirely unfeasible in any real world situation

If your clothing is conductive, it’s just going to mostly flow through your clothing. Depending on thermal properties and how much current these gloves put out, it might heat up the clothing enough to cause burns

I was thinking more about what would happen with the gloves themselves. Not sure if it’d break them or convert them into high-intensity hand warmers (or your suggestion or nothing, for that matter). Guess I could pick up one of those crappy $10 stun gun flashlight things and see how those respond to a conductor between the prongs but probably won’t.

I mean, I can just tell you

If you put a conductor between the prongs, it’ll complete the circuit. Better than air does, by a lot. Circuit complete. Simple as that

Where does the heat go? That’s the question you should be asking. Thermodynamics aren’t a suggestion

Do you understand what I mean? You should definitely ask follow up questions if you’re still unsure about how your little experiment would go

I take that to mean I’d want to have a heat-insulating layer between the conductive material and my skin in that case to avoid burns. Used to play with disposable camera flash (light, not memory) circuit boards and I broke a few by connecting things that ought not be connected so I’ve been basing my expectations off of that. Zapped some friends, some friends zapped me, good times were had by all.

It’s the sort of thing that probably won’t really click until I’ve tried it out but I appreciate you giving me some stuff to think about in the meantime.

Absolutely, and I largely understand this because I experimented, don’t forget the battery

The gloves, and any taser, should have some kind of cutoff. But if they didn’t and you dropped something like a perfect sheet of graphene between the contacts?

Something will melt in the circuit, if it’s not in the conductor it’s going to be in the battery

Okay, that’s the sort of catastrophic failure I was hoping for. Lowest-bidder junk might skimp on the safety features, especially if they don’t think the people buying them will care enough to check. Also why my test plan involves pushing the button with a stick so I’m not holding it when the angry pixies come out to play.

That’s the attitude. I’m still here because I do dumb things wisely
