I’m not as anti-AI as the rest of this place but I am 100% in favor of being honest about it.
I found a mod passing off AI generated images as authentic, vintage sci-fi covers. I asked why they were mixing them together and was not only banned but they deleted my comment.
Kind of sad that they can’t see what they are doing is rather selfish of them. They seem to justify it by saying its harmless fun, but I don’t see how intentionally mixing in Ai images with authentic images is anything but malicious. It probably doesnt help Ai “leaders” like elon musk and Prager U are doing the same thing and just replacing history with weird racist the south won the war shit. So these people don’t see how destructive they are to the internet, because the people they look up to spit on the internet daily. I can only assume hes a elon fan due to the heavy space themes.
They also don’t see themselves as pro ai or anti Ai, but just a person existing inbetween the precieved “drama” which is kind of an easy out for being a shitty person and not having to justify their actions.
I think a person like this is just selfish and would steal candy from a baby if that was their favorite candy. Kind of like the inability to think of someone else, due to the obsession about the self.
From my experience, the majority of people saying “Oh I don’t have an opinion about AI” are the ones excessively talking with ChatGPT.
Have you read the rules of the instance?
You say that as if I’m not allowed to talk shit in another instance for no reason.
And no I did not read the rules because I didn’t really care to check it out. I clicked on one persons profile to try to find the comment and seen their long comment thread but that’s about it.
One thing I feel sympathy for is he feels the need to use Ai to populate the instance to make it feel less dead. To me that means their goal is to try to improve this place and this is a shared passion between many users. I’m still new here so maybe I’m being too harsh and don’t get proper manners for this platform, but I don’t think that I shouldn’t avoid saying something because of it. And what does it matter anyways? Its like shouting to the void. I’m not there in his domain getting banned or shit talking them, and if I did I would expect to get banned and that’s their right.
