Unfortunately, the explosives in fireworks are generally ill-suited to being used for alternative purposes, for one reason or another. From what I understand they’re selected to look visually stunning (and have non-explosive additives for colors and effects), not for their destructive power (not that I’d suggest destroying anything…)
Fortunately, the information on what you can use that is suitable and how to make it from easy to source ingredients is readily available on the internet. Remember, if you choose to play with things that go boom, plastic containers and safety goggles. shards of plastic are not exactly fun to be hit with (and are harder than your eyes), but metal shrapnel or shards of glass are much less so when things go wrong.
