I was very much as McNeill described in the article: a young scientist who appreciated that someone could be a great in their field and fun, turning a blind eye to the dark side. I didn’t hear about the further shitty behaviour until now, but I didn’t really go looking.
Indeed, there’s no unlearning quantum physics; we should remember that achieving great things doesn’t make someone a good person.
