Also, I would be too embarrassed to assume the other person is talking about romantic pet names. What if they were not and I’d make the situation awkward? Too much of a risk.

What modern person calls loving nicknames “pet names” still? Feels like a Boomer term.

Cat sounds are the best ones, I don’t make the rules. Then peacock and shoebill stork. If I went into all the bird calls I’d be here for hours though!
