Almost two-thirds of respondents said US used to be a great place for immigrants but no longer is

Donald Trump’s aggressive and wide-reaching immigration-enforcement agenda has convinced increasing numbers of adults that the US is no longer a welcoming country for outsiders, a new poll has found.

About six in 10 respondents to the Associated Press-NORC poll, conducted last month, say the country used to be a great place for immigrants, but no longer is.

Another one-third said they or somebody they knew personally had been affected by the Trump administration’s crackdown in the previous 12 months, rising to about 60% of Hispanic adults.

This is what nearly 40 years of unopposed and uncontested hate radio and cable news lies has wrought. The bottom 30% of US citizenry with no “real” education, a 3rd grade reading level, and amygdalas the size of a basketballs are unable to control how they react to change or difference. These dullards fantasize they are the majority and ever since their Orange Jesus got elected think they don’t have to hide their hatred and bigotry and can do it openly and gleefully once again.

After the Civil War, the North really should have executed every Confederate male over age 10 and relocated those remaining to states outside of the (former) Confederacy and ceded all those territories to any/all freed slaves.

    I will clarify for non-Americans.

We, the American people are just as welcoming as we’ve always been. Half will open their arms to you, ang give you a welcoming hug. Half are racist, and stupid.

It’s the American government which is no longer welcoming to immigrants.

So to any immigrants thinking of visiting, DON’T.

I don’t say this out of hate. I say this out of protection to you. Don’t come to America. You are not safe here. Shits bad. Same way I wouldn’t reccomend any Jewish people to vacation in Germany in the early 1940s. That’s where we are right now. Stay safe by staying home.

Yeah, honestly at this point I question the mental facilities of immigrants coming to america. This place is actively hostile to your health and well being.

Your either insanely desperate or insanely stupid to want to come here right now.

What gave it away, the daily hateful rhetoric, the persecution of American citizens who look like they might be immigrants, the murder of peaceful protestors, the oppression of entire cities with ICE “surges”, or the concentration camps? How much more does it take before the other 4 in 10 start wondering if it’s a great place for Americans anymore, nevermind immigrants? Are they going to continue withholding judgement until the ovens and gas chambers are being used? Or has Fox News simply turned them all permanently into drooling red-hat-wearing Nazi ghouls?

We’re welcoming to immigrants if you’re the right kind of immigrant. Specifically white or rich. Preferably both.

Maybe they’re thinking back to the “no Irish need apply” signs, the Chinese exclusion act, internment camps, or any of the other fucked up ways we’ve treated immigrants over our history.

As a 40+ year old first generation American I can say my personal experience is that by and large it has not been exactly welcoming to immigrants for decades.

I once believed that it was getting better but Americans then let me know that once again I was and still not exactly welcome.
