I unfortunately tried this as a teen. Didn’t work, and you would have to breathe in the entire tube of vapor before you can expect to get any liquid out. Was instantly nauseous and had a headache for a few days. Everytime I see an actor do this I get pretty triggered. What a strange trope.

Uhh… you aren’t supposed to inhale it.
You suck the air into your mouth, then evacuate that out your nose.
        Repeat, until fuel in mouth.

If you’d like to show me how to do, I’ll gladly watch that video. I’d recommend a vintage gasoline from the late 2000s, diesel if you’re nasty.

            I mean… No?
I’m going to be shallow and judgemental here, and guess you are at least a generation younger than I am.
I grew up in the 80s, and had to siphon gas many times between cars and motorcycles and lawnmowers and whatever else. And yes, that includes diesel.
Its not rocket science, but I can understand the confusion if you haven’t had to do it before.

I’ve been wondering if putting most of the tube in the tank and then covering up the hole with your thumb would be adequate in pulling up liquid to begin the siphon process.
