I think that becoming filthy rich genuinely makes people insane. Some people are better at hiding it, but these days it seems they don’t even bother to hide it anymore. I own a very small business, mostly just me. But now and then I have to hire extra help, and occasionally there’s a guy who goes straight into ass-kissing-the-boss mode, which disgusts me as much as everyone else.
I shut it down real fast, telling everybody in general that I don’t respond to ass kissing, and just do the job the way I tell you to do it. I don’t need my ass smooched at the same time. Gross, knock that shit off, have some self-respect.
