China has long passed the point of no return towards a dystopian authoritarian panopticon. I just don’t see how they can get out of it at this point. It’s permanent unless destroyed from the outside. WW3 is their only long term hope. What a nightmare.

The west is going the same direction. Especially the UK. In fact, I think deep down in classified organisations, there are a lot of similarities with China. But a difference is that the UK isn’t willing to admit it, while China proudly boasts about it.

Seems like the highly praised Hong Kong’s peaceful protests yielded to absolutely nothing.

I think they made the situation worse. The original protests was over an extradition bill, which they eventually agreed to drop. But then the demands kept getting higher and higher to the point it became separatism. I think they shot themselves in their own foot if they seriously thought China would allow separatism to happen

    • Actually, a violent riot / attempted revolution would not have made things any better. Would’ve lead to a much worse crackdown. Much more deaths.

Its just impossible to win against the PLA as a bunch of civillians without military training…

And you won’t ever get western countries to help… you have zero outside military willing to intervene…

Seriously, you think waving a bunch of US or UK flags is gonna get them to send aircraft carriers and do airstrikes against the PLA? No lmfao…

This is not the Ukraine situation… Ukraine has a military built up… Hong Kong does not have it’s own military.

This isn’t Taiwan… Taiwan has its own military, and the PLA never stepped foot on Taiwan; in contrast, the PLA is already inside Hong Kong… Hong Kong government is already controlled by Beijing… (it’s called a devolved government)

Mainlanders already have low sympathy towards Hong Kongers, violence only promotes anti-HongKong sentinments amongst Mainlanders

Mainland has a MUCH BIGGER population…

You really need to sway Mainlanders on your side.

Like… my point is… at this moment “Free Hong Kong” is not gonna work, you need a “Free China” movement…

Hong Kong can never be free until CCP falls.

Give me liberty or I guess I have to go home or something

        Very inspirational

        • Mainlanders and Hong Kongers have the same oppressors, really should be working together, not be fighting each other.

You’re thinking too small. You’re talking about throwing molotovs at the popo… like… sure okay… not sure how that’ll help…

You really need to be taking it to Beijing.

          Get Xi deposed.

          Death to Xi Jinping.

You have the same mentality as the “left vs right” culture war type of people… when the real enemy is at the top.
