Too be fair Gavin Newsom would LOVE to play a role like Guiliani did after 9/11, it was the prime of his life and the righteousness came quick and hard to silence critics in those days… Gavin might actually have a remote chance to win president as a heroic and embattled defender from terrorism in a way that he could never win if he is stuck having to actually talk about policy during “peacetime”.

Hours after a terrorist attack on California, Techbros will have already spammed an astroturf campaign using military AI flush with government contract cash about how the only way to make sure this never happens again is to fully eradicate civil liberties and privacy rights and all of California will eat it up hook line and sinker because people in California think they aren’t as stupid as people everywhere else due to having so many tech companies nearby and so they will think “this is a New Thing” and “we should Just Trust The Authoritarians Who Have Our Best Interests At Heart.”
Meanwhile all regulation of big tech will flip on its head and become regulation of the government by big tech.
Then conservatives all over the country will say “look this is why liberals can’t keep you safe and be strong men on foreign policy like us!” and the mainstream media and center of the US will eat that narrative right up too, slamming the afterburners of fascism and rightwing bigotry in this country all the way up to 11 in a matter of days.
Do you see how vulnerable the US is? Why we need to take this dead seriously? If you fly one drone into the mainland US, everybody will lose their minds and the current political status quo will fly apart quicker than anyone expects… and it if it happens it will most certainly benefit extremist rightwing conservatives who don’t give a fuck about keeping you safe, they just want to kill more brown people.
If they went after data centers and other corrupted aspects of America, I feel like any sane person would see it as Iran trying to save us regular honest authentic citizens from our corrupted culture. It’s pretty clear America is heartless insidious and sinister, like a cancer eating away honest human experience.
But most people here aren’t sane. They just want their shows, clothes, drama, and glutenous privilege so they don’t have to experience reality. Its like humanity was cooked out of most people here and they don’t understand how much death and life raping takes place for them to have their privileges. No one here is going to heaven.
I wish I could believe this country wasn’t drowning in ideologically cowardly centrists who are terrified of anything that isn’t the status quo and are always ready to reduce their intellectual thinking around geopolitics to “I am PATRIOTIC” when they get even remotely scared, confused or disoriented…
…and I hope in that moment the US will have shown itself to have evolved.
I am not so sure though, the polling on the US populace definitely shows that Trump’s policies and general thrust of things are massively, historically unpopular but also it is very easy to punch US culture in the face so it forgets what happened in the last 5 minutes and it reverts to its same old instincts… so shrugs I don’t know I have a bad feeling we are about to get punched in the face and it will work entirely as intended.
It doesn’t even seem like america owns America anymore, like the entire thing is just a tool used puppeted by corporations and psychotic wealthy people. Like it’s already dead… The nation is like a dead body being puppeted by extorted creeps. And that trump and friends aren’t even the masterminds… They are the creeps that essentially sold their souls to the devils above them. They just do what they are told.
And sadly is goes down the line to more regular people thinking they are living for the American dream, thinking they are doing right in their careers, but it’s really just a tainted life path that’s already been corrupted. Like they eat up the sludge from the cesspool like it’s purified water and think they are doing the right thing but really they are helping the enemy.
It’s beyond politics at this point imo. It’s a cancer. All genuine humanity vs the cancer.
Yes which is why it pisses me off when people say humanity is the worst.
Like, sure people suck but also we are being subjected to an extinctionary cancerous process and that is truly where the real evil is located rather than in some mass moral failing in average people.
