For the reasons stated on the record, SAUSA Matthew Isihara is found in civil contempt of court.

NYT has an informative article on this. (archive link)

The basis of the issue is that a federal judge had ordered this man detained by ICE from Minneapolis released AND returned to Minnesota, which they did not do, prompting the detainee’s attorney to have to go back to court. Then when the govt did release him, they put him on the street in El Paso with no documentation. (For those not from here, Minneapolis is 1,375 miles from El Paso, or 2,213 kilometers, a hell of a long way from home, and you can’t just get on a flight with no ID, even if someone else pays for the ticket.)

At the end of the article, to absolutely no one’s surprise, the govt people were able to locate the detainee’s missing docs after all.

The federal judges are done with seeing their orders ignored, is what it looks like.
