Historically, the Catholic Church has always sided with the oppressors. Except of course when they WERE the oppressors. Pope Leo donated money and held fundraisers for Hitler. Catholics in the USA overwhelmingly voted for Trump. Catholics in Argentina overwhelmingly voted for Milei. Et cetera.
Christians had been fascists for centuries before the word “fascism” even existed. They literally believe that the Universe itself is a dictatorship, and they think that’s a good thing. Fuck them for trying to look like the good guys when they have caused more human misery than any other group in the history of the Universe.
I’m not religious or American so I may not have all the context, but a quick search shows the Episcopal Church is Protestant (which to the best of my knowledge is famously not the same as Catholic). And from the outside looking through the window of Christians and Americans in general, they seem to be on the more progressive side of things.

Yeah they’re basically the American variant of the Church of England and are far more progressive than that implies
