Ukrainian F-16 pilot said the training was based on conflicts fought by Ukraine’s partners in the past and did not account for the conditions of the current war.
Honestly, Viper squadrons all over the world would probably do very well to work with Ukraine in training efforts, and specifically to incorporate the plethora of combat tactics and deployment strategies they’re developing. It’s all well and good if you’ve actually got air dominance and can run the thing more or less as intended, but the Ukrainian Air Force is effectively developing entirely novel areas of F-16 combat doctrine, by the simple virtue of the fact that the assumed preconditions that most NATO countries train and operate under are not terribly close to the conditions Ukrainians find themselves fighting under.
