Speaker Mike Johnson has told the White House that most House Republicans have little interest in extending the Affordable Care Act’s enhanced subsidies, sources familiar with the conversation told CBS News.
Johnson delivered the message in a phone call with senior administration officials as President Trump’s advisers were drafting a plan to continue the subsidies for an additional two years. That plan that was initially expected to emerge this week.
The Wall Street Journal first reported Johnson’s warning to the White House regarding the lack of GOP House support for the plan. Any White House health care plan would require overwhelming Republican support in the House to be enacted.
Oh, what’s that? The Dems caved for promises that the proven liars wouldn’t end up keeping? Bravo to everyone and enjoy your new insurance premiums, peasants.
Promises to hold a vote? They’ll vote.
No need to get so excited, no one expected them to do the right thing on the subsidies.
Looks like Trump was intending to honor the deal but he couldn’t keep his circus in line.
Trump didn’t want the deal. He wanted to end the filibuster then use domination tactics to essentially cancel the midterms. He’s only talking about caving on the subsidies now as damage control for Republicans.
oh my heavens. they lied??!
No.
Then they’re probably not interested in, once again, not finding an ACA replacement. Heres to pissing 3 more years away kicking that can down the street again.
I fully expect the Democrats to completely bobble what should be a freaking slam-dunk.
You’d think they could easily run ads demonstrating this kind of kitchen-table issue and absolutely decimate any Republican running for office by tying their entire party to this demonic wish to kick people off their health care…but I’m sure more than a few dumbass Democrats will get side-lined by divisive culture war/identity politics/wedge issues that they always seem to get hung up on as of late.
But, who knows - I might be pleasantly surprised this time around. I sure hope so.
They already fucked themselves in the foot by just…… holding the country hostage for fucking nothing.
Yep. They caved for an empty promise when they had the voters behind them. They literally snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Now everyone is pissed at them for making them suffer for a month and not achieving anything.
This is what Johnson decides to stand up to the pedophile for? Economy wrecking illegal tariffs, blatant abuse of the military, illegal diversion of funding, targeting political opponents… He ignores
But not actively harming poor people? That he will not abide
He can’t jerk off to anything else.
Republicans aren’t interested in governing. Can’t wait for the next town halls viral footage. In all seriousness though, I legit think these people may start getting shot at town halls.
Oh no! That would be awful. Thoughts and prayers.
I’m thinking most of them won’t do town halls, and if something like that were to happen, they’d put the kibosh on any more after the first one happened…
Didn’t they already stopped doing Town Halls or toned down the number of them severely?
Besides being psychopaths who enjoy spreading pain and suffering I can only assume they have calculated this will somehow hurt Dems more…otherwise they are seemingly beyond all reason entirely

Poor people without medical care are more likely to end up jobless and homeless, and therefore eligible for the concentration camps they want to build.
A few years ago they were clamoring that no one would have to change doctors or plans they like, and now they don’t even have to pretend to care about anyone making less than median income in the US. They should all just work for pittances until they die of preventable illnesses.
Small government, big business.
LOL, “small government”. They only mean that in extremely narrowly defined ways.
I remember hearing that even the centimillionaires and billionaires were starting to write think pieces (or have them written by think tanks they fund) about how having mass inequality is not something they should be interested in, given history. Meaning, things like guillotines. Obviously, they want to be extremely wealthy, but they recognize the risks (basically, violent outcomes aimed at them) of steering too far in that direction and that some reasonable pressure valves should be in place…
I’m pretty sure that was prior to Donvict’s first term and I haven’t seen much about those kind of murmurings since. I guess they hope to use someone like Taco as a blunt force instrument to smash any and all opposition and funnel as much money as possible to themselves? Again, this is probably not being steered by people that are bothering to learn from history…
Republicans aren’t interested in mid-terms either apparently.
Why worry they got the machines rigged. Voting doesn’t matter.
If people overwhelmingly vote against them it’s much harder to rig than if the results are close. It becomes too obvious. The US is not Russia where they can just defenestrate anyone that brings attention to voting irregularities, at least not yet.
Wrong

I volunteer Mike Johnson as tribute.
Duh
I’m shocked I tell you, shocked.
