The nightmare of a dystopian system. Recently it was discovered that an elementary school was built on an old heavy metal processing site, and the kids had 1000x the safe limits of lead exposure. But parents only found this out when they went to hospitals far away, because the local government told the local hospitals to lie about the exposure levels.
No, that’s very different. That’s a mega corporation doing horrible things, and they can and will get sued and charged over it.
My example was the actual Chinese government hiding the issue. And this happens all the time in China. There are entire villages where more than half the population has cancer due to contaminated ground water. And the other residents who don’t have cancer can’t do anything because they don’t have any money to deal with it.
This is just the tip of the iceberg with China. Remember, all their news agencies are state controlled and they censor everything coming out of there. There’s no “free press” to report on these kinds of issues. The rest of the world only hears about it when it becomes too big to control.
Another example is kidnapping of children. It’s a big issue in China and we’re only just starting to hear about it because it’s become such a problem. Same thing with the “revenge against society” attacks.
My point is that China is already the dystopia you worry about.
Tbf, I’ve only good things to say about the people working at the VCA we take our pets to. I’m sure there’s evil higher up in the corporation, because it’s a superstructure that parasitizes the local offices and exploits the veterinarians and their helpers. Sort of like " health insurance" companies, nothing of value is added. But the hands-on people have only shown great care for animals.
Sometimes I think the way to sell universal healthcare would be to include pets. Although you’d never convince Kristi Noem.
As individuals, most ae great. Every job has the dumbass or mystery hire. As a whole, they ae garbage.
The VCA is one big ad for Mars inc products. Subscription plans for anti parasitic drugs, ads running as " Vet educating the public", and their products wall to wall.
They also own Banfield. Talk about dystopian.
20 years ago, we had local vets. Now, your pet has almost no option. They charge you $800 and give you a Mars bar.
I left healthcare (physical therapy) because between this and how pharmacy is going, I have no hope for the future of healthcare.
My wife sees the prices as well. Evetything had a min of 350% on top of. I really do hope China wins or something, if not we are so fucked.
People in China are currently living your nightmare, and you want China to win?
What nightmare?

Hate to tell you but the U.S. is no different. We just make sure they die before it gets national news.
