They need to be running serious challenges in every state with a Senator up in 2026. None of this milquetoast compromise “conservative but not bigoted” bullshit that the Third Way / Democratic Leadership Council alumni like to do. Voters want bold, aggressive fighters for workers.

And for christ’s sake can we screen for Nazi tattoos and death threat text threads please…?

What people need to understand is that the primary goal of the old gaurd at the DNC is to guard the rich.

They also need to simultaneously understand that supporting the democrats despite that and changing them from within, is currently the only pragmatic plan of action.

      I mean…

The head of the DNC said he wants a candidate like Mamdani, both in personality and policy, as the next presidential candidate. And he said that almost immediately after the primary.

Like, Martin has always been about listening to the voters, he seems to agree with Mamdani’s principles, but it’s more that he knows most Dem voters do.

He’s not going to put a finger on the scale for anyone, so yeah…

In a fair fight why do you think we won’t see someone like Mamdani? Are you just underestimating how biased the DNC was for the last decade that an equal playing field doesn’t feel like enough?

I’m having flashbacks to the 2016 primary. They had a guy like Mamdani in policy and principle and decided to put their finger on the scale for Hillary. The 2020 primary wasn’t much better, although it seemed a bit more fair however they could have run anyone and won. Have they finally learned their lesson? They’ll probably be able to win with anyone in 2028 depending on the Republican candidate, so why won’t they run a lackey for the rich again?

The fact that you keep using “they” means you don’t understand the DNC power structure…

The chair is basically a dictator, 100% power, 0% accountability.

Martin ran Minnesota for a decade. Either he doesn’t work against progressive and is a great chair, or he’s completely incompetent at stopping them. Either way, this is our best shot to get a progressive to the general

              and the DNC needs money

              Literally the opposite…

Billionaire owned media is fearmongering because the DNC isn’t currently raising money, but they have the keys to the “victory fund” and we’re like 9 months deep into the biggest reinvestment from the DNC to state parties ever.

The DNC doesn’t need money, certainly not as much as they currently have 3 years out from a presidential election.

Just wait. A status-quo candidate will be pushed by corps and billionairs.

100%. It would be incredibly naive to think otherwise.

But money ain’t enough to get a neoliberal past the primary. That’s why since 2008 the neoliberals consolidated more and more power into the DNC that they never anticipated losing…

              But they did

Just like the de-regulation of broadcast regulations allowed billionaires and corps to buy up every journalistic institution, and then it immediately blew up in neoliberals faces, making a strong DNC has fucked them because they lost control of it.

But I hope you’re right, AOC would be amazing.

I pay more attention than most, and have hated the DNC for 30+ years.

Martin won’t influence it either way. And neoliberals are so unpopular the only way they can get past the primary is a long sustained propaganda movement to convince people the DNC is worthless to depress primary turnout.

No matter what happens, we need to get people to vote in primaries. We can’t afford someone like Newsome or Pritzker making it to the general and then the oval, because they’ll name a chair that’ll never let go of power.

              I’d bet a lot of money that’s not true…

The difference is I understand why I’m cynical, and how things change.

You tho, just saw everyone not liking Dems, somewhat understood why, and are now latching onto that as an unchanging truth of the universe.

Not understanding that things changeused to just be a republican thing, but unfortunately I’m seeing a lot of accounts online doing it while saying they’re Dems.

Never see it in real life…

But online there’s a lot of accounts who really really want to convince people voting in Dem primaries won’t fix anything.

Which is weird, because a rational person who feels like the party might be biased, would make the logical decision to try and get progressives to vote in the primary.

Why don’t you want progressives to vote in the Dem primary?

What harm does that do that you spend “free time” telling people it would be pointless?

What’s the result you’re hoping for here?

              Quick edit:

Honestly not sure why I’m asking questions, you dont answer them and just keep making short comments telling people it’s useless to vote in primaries…

I don’t give a shit about stroking my ego, I give a shit about progressing leftism in America

Then stop turning people off the Dem party, and start getting people “as left as you” to get in the mindset of voting in the Dem primary…

It’s not going to be easy, because like we’ve both been saying, the prior DNC chairs were biased neoliberal pieces of shit.

              But…

Even if the new chair still was, wed still want people to vote in the Dem primary. If you feel the resulting candidate isn’t left enough, don’t vote for them in the general.

But we fucking need everyone in the primary. Because if primary turnout is depressed, a neoliberal like Newsom could sneak thru, and if he becomes president he will 100% appoint a biased neoliberal as chair.

No one is trying to get you to hold your nose in the general.

Just trying to get you to vote in the primary to help a progressive get the nomination.

What is so wrong about that?

              What do you disagree with?

Because there’s going to be a shit ton of nefarious accounts doing just what you are soon, and I don’t want innocent people lumped in with that because it will divide the party, which again is what neoliberals and trump want.

You are 100% correct, the DNCs primaries are so notoriously corrupt that republicans have attempted to copy super delegates. The party elite picked Hillary over Obama and lost, he was so disgusted by it he didn’t even bother to pick a DNC chair, he washed his hands of them. Then they successfully did it with Bernie, the candidate with actual popular support was dumpstered for the bank’s darling, Hillary Clinton.

Then instead of even pretending, we are handed the worst candidate who ran for president in modern history. A woman who is familiar with being last place in a primary against the walking corpse of Joe Biden.

People will reject Trump again cause he and Republicans can’t govern. But the DNC kicked out David Hogg, a duly elected rep and person with real gravitas in the gun control debate, because he admitted the dems have an incumbent problem.

The DNC is truly a terrible organization.

The best move is replacing Schumer as minority leader.

Dudes a wet blanket and everytime he opens his mouth he depresses Dem turnout, that’s how unlikable he is.

Find a young charismatic Senator, like, we’re an opposition party till midterms at least in the Senate. We don’t want someone who has buddies across the aisle and keeps talking about compromise.

It certainly isn’t because the Democratic leadership has stopped taking their left-wing supporters for granted. They know those voters don’t really have any credible alternatives (yet).

REALLY curious how legit the claims are but…

Yeah. The Democrats deciding it would be hard so why try sounds about right.

As it stands? It is the Democrats race to lose (if we have elections next year…). But on the off chance that trump et al re-open the government, give people our previous baseline of shitty healthcare, and repeal most of the tariffs? It will be a red landslide. Fortunately, that would involve an old rapist acknowledging he was wrong and…

Fuck… I now see an actual downside to fuckface dying. vance et al can pretend all the bad was him.

Just remember that Trump dying would set off an internal power struggle. Nobody likes or give a shit who or what Vance supports, so he would have precisely fuck-all a far as pull in down ballot elections. For whatever reason, the base will slobber over every word trump blurts out so any dissent is crippling in a Republican, that would disappear and every Republican worth the title of ‘politician’ would take advantage of a Vance leadership as a once in a lifetime opportunity out-Trump the competition, but without the centralizing firehose of bullshit trump has been able to use to distract from issues as they come up. Right now trump is able to distract from almost literally any topic by being a force to deal with immediately as he sets other fires to deal with. Vance will have the position, butwon’t have that talent and by virtue of their position no other GOP personality will have the power.

Basically don’t stop looking forward to a least bad outcome like natural causes.
