I don’t think it matters, the EU contains a mutual defense pact as well. Even if NATO fails to respond due to Trump being an Epstein related kiddie diddler, EU members have each other’s back. Turkey would be left out in the cold though.
So there’s no downside to having the US in NATO. Unless you’re Turkey.

He’ll veto every action that goes against Russia… Which is what NATO was originally formed to do…
NATO is not against russia. It is against certain things that russia does to its neighbours who subscribe to NATO membership.
